Agree. A 6-footer should have been the bed length. I guess Slate just planned from the get-go for the swing-away spare tire carrier.

My old BMW had the infamous pop out cupholders... I just stopped using them. They would barely fit a soda can, and I didn't trust them to support the weight of a 24 oz coffee. My right one stopped working after my wife kneed it and absolutely destroyed it.

Problems with a car designed for the German market where it is illegal to drink anything while driving. BMW's cup holders have never been up to American standards. The pop-out cup holders on the E85/86 Z4 are even worse than the E90's.

So, I took your numbers and threw them into a trapezoidal prism volume formula (I cheated and used an on-line calculator - 🤣 ) and came up with 12,168 cubic inches. Divide by 1,728 cubic inches per cubic foot and the rough volume is 7.04 cubic inches. So, I think your measurements are spot on.

These compressor type refrigerators are much more efficient than the Peltier device coolers, but due to the refrigerant and oil, they don't like being tilted. This may be an issue.

I would also be concerned about ventilation.

Washington/Oregon coastal beaches!

If things go as planned, I'll be taking my slate on the sand, setting up a popup shelter/small tent in the bed (or on the beach) for sun protection.

A side benefit of the body panels being plastic = no rust!

I wonder how silly I could get with bluetooth speakers in the bed.

I have a place on the opposite coast and have only spent a little time on the NW coast beaches. That sounds awesome!

I've lived on all 3 major coastlines and there is a reason everyone flocks to the southern coasts. Washington, Oregon, New York, New Jersey Rhode Is. beaches consistently have worse weather and far colder water than California, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia beaches.
Scuba divers even pee in their wetsuites it water that cold to warm themselves.

True! But if you don't actually get IN the water, the OR/WA coasts are beautiful and uncrowded.

Our current place is in NC which is really nice (but can't drive on them), but now my wife is yearning for south GA...to which I will certainly say, "Yes, Ma'am", as I value longevity.

They were poorly marketed and have been discontinued. You can get a pair delivered to your door for $160+tax while supplies last.

Hmmm, I live in California, and you can *not* swim here until you get down to San Diego or maybe LA. We get icy water from the Arctic here. Meanwhile, thanks to the Gulf Stream, New Jersey has great beaches. Yes, it's cold when you get in, but you can warm up fast. Really just the thing for a hot day. I love Florida, but you can't cool off in that water.

And hmmm, on reflection, sorry if New Jersey doesn't want people to know this. To keep the beaches from getting too crowded. Oops, sorry...

The Carolina beaches are ideal until hurricane season. Plenty warm in summer and warm enough until Thanksgiving.

We go to Canada for the nice public access beaches on lake erie. Sometimes the temperatures are good enough, haha.
