Similar in Georgia. All BEVs and any plug in hybrids that get the alternative fuel plate are subject to additional tax to replace the gas tax. Annoyingly, the tax is more than what I’ve actually paid in federal and state gas taxes combined in the last year, even ignoring that Georgia suspended its gas tax for a couple of months. Not to rain on anyone’s parade but be prepared in some states (like Michigan) for a big hit on your vehicle plates/registration. My Mach E renewal was $480. 😳
I believe the Slate will come in lower but they are trying to capture lost gas tax revenue. They should do the tax by milage driven here and as more EVs hit the road I’m hoping we can get the law changed.
AllSlate.I think Slate should offer its own insurance plan, kind of like Tesla.
They can call it………..
Slate Farm 😁
Yep, I contacted my agent and they did exactly that.my agent reached out to the underwriter to get a quote
I think they are just going off the msrp to come out with a number
Geographic region is a big one. If the actuaries can legally carve out a demographic to charge you more, they will.well, c'mon. that's almost certainly due to personal circumstances (record, age, family, etc).
They're in the business of making money, not losing it.Geographic region is a big one. If the actuaries can legally carve out a demographic to charge you more, they will.
Exactly. Case in point: when I started driving, males paid more for car insurance than females. There was a sex discrimination lawsuit followed by some legislation & now women & men are on the same scale. They're in the business of making money, not losing it.
Yup. Only illegal in a few states.Exactly. Case in point: when I started driving, males paid more for car insurance than females. There was a sex discrimination lawsuit followed by some legislation & now women & men are on the same scale.
