I messed around for a couple hours and got a spare Resp Pi 4 and a display to launch Android Auto and my phone connected to it.

while researching OBD-II interfaces with Android Auto, I came upon this full (paid) implementation of a carputer and OBD viewer running on Raspberry Pi. This is not open source but extensible.

I tried a few different RaspPi implementation of AA, and this is the easiest to install.

It has hooks into displaying OOBD-II data as widgets. I'm going to try this path and see how far I can go.

I think I hit a snag.... I can connect a BT speaker to the RespPi and stream Spotify from my phone Android Auto to the Pi over USB. However, wireless Android is out of the question as the BT bandwidth is not sufficient to stream audio and pull telemetry from the ODB dongle.
The setup will have to be wired audio via the headphone jack or an audio hat with better DACs.

Here is a boot up of my current Pi...the video has been sliced up to reduce the length, but the entire boot from power to Android auto is about 65 seconds.

I like your idea, and will be following your build.

I am curious about your builds potential communication to a phone/tablet and accessing its cameras to use the as dashcams. A 1-2 minute video buffer that saves when a collision event is triggered.

i am working on the tpms XD but i don't see why not but looks like a lot of parts that will have to be sourced i checked some of the links and they lead to nothing i wonder if there is a better system ill look mor into it
