The fact that the Mexican government is now actively pushing for the domestic production of EVs (like the Olinia EV) creates a strong policy environment that would seem to favor a company like Slate if it decided to establish a footprint there.
The relatively simple Slate Truck assembly line could be replicated in Mexico. Ease of maintenance and repair plus the durable exterior coupled with low cost could be very attractive in this market. And the longer range version with a lift kit and all-terrain tires could appeal to rural and last-mile agricultural operations.
Could the Slate Truck become a reincarnation of the VW Thing (ruggedized VW Beetle for Mexico)?
Why do I care as a US reservation holder? I want Slate Auto to succeed for the long term support of my Slate Truck!
