New pics show updated center console, new speaker (radio?) dashboard panel, carrying plywood with tailgate up

Now that we have a much clearer picture up on the website:

Volume knob - Back - Play/Pause - Next - USB C

Just want to get the consensus... there is an actual speaker behind that center panel right?
And are the buttons bluetooth? Who makes the speaker (Bose or Radio Shack?) I have so many questions! "Slate U, Where Are You?"

I think I know the first question. You can just buy the center speaker for $250. If you also want the side speakers, that's an extra $150. And then apparently $60 for panels. So either $250 mono, or $460 stereo total. They mentioned this is bluetooth. No idea who makes them.

Hmm... probably right. Might have to opt for the 3rd-party mount (I have a nice portable Bose already). But... I do kind of like the retro-ish look of that center speaker... ugh.

This all looks like bottom-of-the-barrel cheapo stuff. There are better things out there.

I was just logged into the Slate site and did not see the pics on there anywhere

Did anyone else notice these updated pics on the Slate home page. That's an updated center console image, a new speaker (radio?) panel, and they no longer show the plywood with the tailgate down, probably because they moved the brake light to the tailgate (can you legally drive with the tailgate down if it hides the brake light?).

That center radio looks cool. Is that only if you get the center speaker add on or does it bluetooth to your phone and control volume/ skip forward etc from that console without the add on?

I expect it will work just like any other bluetooth speaker. Those buttons will allow you to change the volume, skip to next track or back track, pause, and restart.

Interesting... I'm visiting Slate right now and don't see the same images as you do. The page is https://www.slate.auto/en/blank-slate then scrolling down to "Space Comfort, Simplicity".

I see the older version of image 1, without the center console.

Your image 3, "hop in, rock out", is image 5 for me, and I'm seeing the older image version where the steering wheel is blocking the view of the phone.

On image 6, "just right height", I'm still seeing the older blue and white truck with and empty bed and the tailgate open. I will say that the current image with plywood in the bed appears a bit misleading. 8 foot plywood would stick out almost 3 feet (roughly 2' 8" with the angle). That's quite doable, but you will want a flag on it.

I also catch a different view of the frunk on one of your images, I still see the older version with the frunk empty. I also tried loading the page on an old version of Chrome for iMac and with Safari on my iPhone. I'm still getting the older version of that part of the page on both other browsers.

This thread and the photos were from last month before the price was announced. The website has been completely updated since then.
