Do people typically get to sit in it at these events?

They show the prototypes that are not necessarily production equivalents right?
In some of the first events people got to sit in them, but I'm sure people were rough with them "kick the tires" kind of thing, slamming doors, pulling knobs etc. So that ended.
They have been the same maybe 3 or so prototypes from the first events to the current ones from what can be seen, so yes not production equivalents, 3d printed parts and dummy parts where production will be molded and functional.

I was fortunate enough to get to sit in one at the Space Needle event last year. The Slate rep was guiding me through and I was respectful; asking permission to touch everything. It was a lot of fun, but the next guy who just jumped in, took it as his opportunity to prove he could break the truck. Definition of “ruining it for everyone.”

I'm sure they will have some of the same problem when they do test drive events, but at least that will be with production parts, instead of rapid prototyped 3d printed parts.

And this is why we can't have nice things.
