Another point would be that Slate isn't really offering anything for sale yet. Being 4 months out minimum from actually shipping anything, they aren't actually set up with a shopping cart and shipping charges calculated. By December the major shipping carriers may have doubled their rates to cover fuel costs the way things are going on the other side of the world.

To put a finer point on that, Slate currently does not offer SUV kits for sale.

They offer turnkey SUV variants of the Blank Slate with SUV parts installed in lieu of or in addition to the truck parts. The labor to install them is part of the cost of building these variants.

When they do offer “Kits” to upgrade existing trucks as an accessory, the list price MAY be the $5,000 and $7,000 deltas of the turnkey SUVs over the Blank Slate truck, not including shipping.

FWIW, I sent Slate an email suggesting that on every wrap, decal, or accessory web page they add a simple footer stating, “Price does not include sales tax, shipping, or installation.”

All their advertising hypes these kits and peoples ability to add/change their vehicle configurations. I think they just need to be clear if they are going a whole different route than the average buyer has been used to for so many years. Creativity and thinking outside the box should he encouraged. Questioning should be encouraged. Critical thinking should be encouraged. Honesty and clarity on these large purchases should be encouraged. Attacking people for asking questions is a red flag and will only push people away.
