I was also looking for clues. I think it's a couple of locations, first parked alongside a curb, then on a striped parking space what appears to be a parking lot. While not conclusive, traffic going by appears to show front license plates, so that rules out Indiana and also MIchigan.

there are reddit groups where you can post a random picture and they will figure out exactly where it is.

Los Angeles area. Front license plates, palm trees, Chevron station, street sign that appears to read "Palms Blvd". Slate has design studio in Long Beach, wrapped prototypes were displayed on the streets of Venice, the official unveiling event was at Long Beach Airport.

Slate's operations are primarily in three states, as their merch indicates:

Slate Auto Pickup Truck New Week, New Views of Slate Pickup Parked on City Streets slatestates

The front license plates are one clue that we are not in Michigan or Indiana. The presence of a Chevron station is another. But the biggest giveaway is probably the tall palm trees in the skyline.

In the opening street view, there is a 7-11 store in the background. It's at the intersection of Lincoln Blvd and Palms Blvd in Venice, a trendy neighborhood in West Los Angeles.
There are almost 10,000 7-Eleven stores in the US, and they are located in every state. I decided not to chase down that clue.

I just picked one at random and got lucky.

Actually I noticed the "Palms Blvd" sign in the intersection. The street views looked like Los Angeles, and it turns out that there is a Palms Blvd in LA, and it also turns out that there are only two 7-11s along that particular street. Found it on the second try.

Yep, Venice is what was able to determine based on the grafiti in the background...

Slate has apparently not revealed the exact location of their Long Beach facilities (my guess: a boring industrial park near Long Beach Airport). However, from anywhere in Long Beach, it should (in theory) be relatively straightforward to get on the San Diego Freeway (I-405), and take it to the Venice Boulevard exit, about 25 miles to the northwest (in practice, it's not necessarily straightforward, because 405 traffic is often terrible).

Long Beach isn't particularly cool, but Venice is. Wouldn't be surprised if the Slate design team likes to find reasons to take prototypes there.

The two street views, at Deus Cafe and at Lincoln/Palms, are both on Lincoln Blvd in Venice, less than half a mile apart.

I found the exact spot the orange wrapped truck was parked for the recent Top Gear video, there's a bunch of identifying landmarks in the video. On close inspection, I think it may actually be outside of their Long Beach design studio, so decided against posting it. If I'm right, it's less than 5 miles from the airport.
