Poll: Does the release of Fathom price and info affect your Slate decision?

If that's what you want, go for it. It's still 80% SUV, just with an open trunk. Slate is classic pick up to me.

A little further thought; My real choice would be between the Fantom and the Telo That would make the price a factor BUT would I want to deal with a dealership? To me, having owned a number of vehicles from Renault, AMC, Plymouth, Jeep, Fiero to Tesla a dealership is a huge negative.

The single time I bought a car from a dealership, they tried to sneak in a $1000 owner credit I was eligible for… to themselves. Luckily I noticed it stuck into the stack of paperwork and I clawed it back.

Something similar happened to me at a BMW motorcycle dealership.

The only reason I got the credit was because I knew it existed from doing research online. That was in 1998.

Incidentally, that particular motorcycle, an F-650 Funduro, was one of the vehicles I keep referring to when I write about vehicles I've owned that strangers ask about would frequently ask me about.

I soon developed an Elevator Pitch explanation with answers to the questions I knew they would ask, which I believe will also happen with the Slate Truck.

A few days ago I was a maybe, today I switched it to Yes. Slate will have to win me back, not going to cancel my preorder just yet but the Fathom being in the same Universe as our MachE's makes it too much a thing.

Heck, earlier this year I was looking at getting a used Lightning Pro if I could get one under $30k.

If I can get a Fathom with a large battery and V2L and factory paint for under $40 new well, my $35k Slate open AIr with 205 mile battery and bare bones optioning is not going to compete well.

The issue I have here, is Ford has talked up 2 Fathoms, one is ~30k, with unknown range, and the other is ~300 mile range, with unknown price, and unknown what other features are tied in that will also add to the price. Good to keep your options open until you know, but I'm thinking no one will know what they are really getting with Fathom for another year at least.

I expect Ford to do what they say they’re going to do. That’s a reveal and preorders in early 2027 and deliveries in late 2027. I also expect most preorders will be for higher trim levels once buyers see the feature differences. Ford is good at making the XL look cheap and ugly without packages that put it closer to the price of the XLT. In the meantime, I care more about the Slate.

This is about right ^^^. Fathom at +5k more IF you can get one with out a $2k-$5k+ dealer markup. I think I have a better chance of getting power mirrors than no dealer markup ever happening. ;-)

OBTW, the $40k Slate is $10k more than the $30k upper limit you set on the Lightning Pro.

I just put in $100 reservation on Scout SUV EREV…I won’t see it until 2028, I’m guessing and I’ll be ready to trade X5 by then anyway (if I don’t trade for Slate??).

Slate will do my truck/open air things, regardless.

So, I'm still reserved for a Scout Terra EREV. Signed up what, now 2 years ago it seems. Been watching the factory build. Even put in some bids on some of the security and electrical work (when I was still working), but we didn't win the work as far as I know. I was hoping we'd win the work so I could get a supplier discount 🤣.

Then Scout announced the generator unit was going to be stuffed into the ass end of the chassis. I still don't see how that is going to work, to fit a powerful enough generator unit that will move the Scout once the battery is depleted.

Then the Slate fell out of the sky; I need to get my $150 refund from Scout...

I think the Scout is a neat vehicle. I hope you get yours and enjoy it.
