I wondered if there were any promotions besides state incentives/ rebates (many states won't qualify a direct to consumer purchase) now that the $7,500 federal incentive is gone and being that its targeting affordability to potential buyers

From many of the reactions I'm seeing online, with the current lack of federal and State incentives and after add on options adding up, there would probably be a lot more base gray Slate trucks out there at first. I thought that being that all of us early buyers are investing on a new vehicle from a new company and basically beta testing in full faith, they might have an incentive say, for everyone who preorders by the end of the year and goes through with the purchase.

It would be great if Slate offered say, $5000 in credit to be spent on the accessories / wraps etc at their online store with first purchase. It would be a great way to say thank you to everyone taking a chance on them and also make sure that the first wave of Slates out there in the world really make a splash by encouraging people to be able to buy/show off the different models, wraps and other accessories that they otherwise couldn't afford or would wait a year or two to buy. They could also then advertise "below $20,000* in value" $24,950 minus $5000 in qualifying add ons.

Just a thought

While I share your enthusiasm as a show of support for early takers, your proposal falls into the category "too good to ever be true." I think the extent of what Slate is offering for First Shift customers is a special Slatelet and a decal. Estimated retail value: $50

I'd settle for a good interest rate.
Like a new credit card, 0% for the first year with in house financing. Helps with those first model year growing pains. Call the promotion "The American- Warsaw Pact"

It's a cheap, electric truck. Everyone gets the Early Buyer Promotional price.

Hopefully they keep that price over time. I think it was Faricy who said he/they hope to sell the company in the future.

We will see just how cheap it is, final pricing seems to still be unclear in some areas. For instance. Installation. Go to the site and pick a basic truck and add the wrap, the price adjusts to the wrap but doesnt include the installation that they offer for a very reasonable price. I imagine that's the same for every add on that makes it at all comparable to any other vehicle for sale. It seems the assumption is DIY but they advertise that you can order it with wraps/ SUV kit etc and acessories installed on your first order yet none of the installation for any of those are optioned in the builder and none seem included in the quoted price, unless I'm missing something. So, do all Slates come from the factory as basic trucks from Slate and then go to a third party partner to get installed and then that is a separate invoice that's not included in our quote? Idk but it would certianly add to the cost and there should be some transparency there.

My understanding from all of the videos I've seen is that the only accessories the factory would install are the SUV conversion kits at the end of the line. The distribution partner would have the vehicle wrapped if you chose to have it preinstalled. Other accessories would be shipped to you for installation by yourself or a RepairPal shop.

That is my understanding as well. So all other installations, besides the SUV/Fastback/Open Air/ Cargo kits (we are assuming that the advertised price includes factory installation even though its the same price as if it wasn't installed), are all charged seperately at an unknown hourly rate or we would have to install or pay another private company. Let's say lift kit (price coming soon), tires, bumpers, etc. That changes the affordability

I was told by a Slate Agent that the website accessory prices DO NOT include installation, however, the SUV kits' prices DO include installation. This is at the initial buy.

Take it for what it is.

Thank you for clarifying, that information should be clear on their website.

I'll never be unhappy with credit/discounts but I don't see the suggested thing as a viable goal. Essentially, that's a conversion kit on that credit.

Yes,that was what I was getting at. Incentivising early buyers to add conversion kits and the addons that they are highlighting as setting them apart from other car companies instead of just getting the base truck. Its basically a marketing cost for advertising their brand IRL.
It can't be that different that what companies are paying social media influencers for advertising
