I have confirmed that even folks who reserved a few days prior to close of reservation period are getting a projected Apr - Jun 2027 delivery date. I'm confident this means even if you had no reservation , you could pre order it now, with Q2 delivery.

What does this mean?

Personally, I think this means that the number of non-refundable preorders is... modest. We have no idea what the reality of production and supply chain will look like, but I'm hard pressed to imagine Slate trying to deliver more than 5,000 units per month, initially. Yes, I am merely pulling that number out of my tailpipe.

On a more positive note, this suggests to me that folks with early reservations are likely to have the opportunity to significantly move up in timeline.

[EDIT]: I'm striking everything out because I don't know what's up. I know nothing. We know nothing. Today, Monday 3pm Eastern, I got slotted into Q2. OP's point is perfectly valid, and I apologize for bloviating.

This is only true in the correct zip codes.

There are many of us still waiting for a window. And this fellow just pre-ordered without a reservation and was assigned to the "Coming Soon" pool too.

And then there are the people who got Q3 windows last Friday.

Slate has a process to determine delivery. It clearly is not first come, first served overall. It is first come, first served in a region. It is some complicated logistics, and they are not sharing it with us, yet.

I realize you and many others have strong feelings about regionality and such. Not saying you are wrong, but I'm not convinced there is evidence beyond circumstantiality.
The "coming soon" is a univeral default, surely we can agree on that?

You won't believe this. I'll eat my dirty shorts.

You are right. I will eat some eggs off my face. I apologize to you.

I don't say this sarcastically.

I just got an email from slate slotting me in Q2.

Now what's up with those poor folks relegated to Q3?

No, I was "Coming Soon", but once I saw last Friday that Q3s were trickling out, I figured I'd be Q3 or beyond. I was wrong. And I was speculating too much, too loudly. Hence why I accuse myself rightfully of "bloviating."

I probably just need to get a life. :)

And in another thread, someone has reported graduating from Q3 to Q2, strengthening your observation, OP.

It seems like pick-up or delivery might be the same price. You pay, then later choose pick-up or delivery.

I put down my $50 in June, just got an email offering Q2 delivery if I “preorder now”. Going to have to make the call fast. That’s when my current lease expires.

Oh my...thanks for the heads-up! I hadn't looked at my info for a few days. My "pre-order Delivery Window" has now moved from coming soon to Apr - Jun 2027.

I registered only 4 days before the initial (June 24) pre-order date...

My reservation was June 17, 2026 and I preordered today. I'm in Seattle WA. My delivery window is April-June 2027.

I did not register until May this year, and the slot that eventually came was Q2. Zip 31328.
Makes no sense that people who signed up for $25 before me would get a Q3 or Q4 delivery slot

Ah! I see now. People with later slots are being moved up by Slate to an earlier slot.

Like Tubes, I may have to suck up some of the bloviating about poor handling of the preorder process. Then again, at the time we were getting jerked around, so maybe not.
