>> Will options dictate delivery

I'd love to know what guidance Slate has given suppliers. It's not 150,000 vehicles. Are they guiding 10,000 in 2027, 0r 50,000? Some other number? It matters, because that's what suppliers invest in. As a supplier, you are living on a shoestring or a razor's edge. Overinvesting means losing money. Consumers always focus on the OEM, but the real story is the many hundreds of suppliers feeding the OEM.
I'd love to know too! There's just that darn NDA I'm sure they all have.

All of this. While I have a truck in the builder I'm really pleased with, and would love to receive as shown, I'm really tempted to get the base and receive the additions separately (because I fear having them done prior to delivery could severely impact delivery time). I'm pretty sure I could manage the installations myself. I really need to review Slate U 🤓

I think it is fair to want to review stuff with Slate U before you buy to DYI.

One other question I have is are they going to soak us with shipping fees if we buy later?

Yep, good question. One of my "upgrades" is a lift and 20" wheels/tires (tyres?)... it might be a better idea to have that done before delivery because I don't want to imagine shipping cost for that :(

What We Know
  • Pricing for the "Base Slate and Key Accessories" (per official communication)
  • Your delivery window based on reservation priority (and presumably location which has been mentioned a few times)
  • Ability to see the delivery window on our account
  • Ability to put down $250 to pre-order which only gets you in line for your delivery window
  • 30 days to decide whether to put down that $250 or not
  • You won't be able to order accessories or wraps - that is finalized later closer to delivery, but you can "make" your truck to be ready
Does converting a reservation into a pre-order deposit lock in your price or does it just lock in your delivery window?

Great question. Let's hope we get clarity 6/24. My gut feel is that this is a lock in for the base vehicle. The rest, who knows?

Just the window as far as I know (and the model variation if there is one (reg vs lg battery)). Price will be determined closer to delivery window which will include tax, registration, extras, etc.

Just your delivery window I am sure, you won’t really be sending any configurations to Slate until you get the E-mail to place your order. At that time your price should be locked in. The fine print in that leaked price notification said prices are subject to change.

I certainly hope it's both. Although in the unlikely event that Slate follows Tesla's playbook, Slate can leverage a price warning; "Pre-order now to avoid future price increases!" I fell victim to this in the past with Tesla.

I think they would have a hard time not refunding a $300 deposit if they changed the price of the base Slate. That wouldn’t be a good look. I ponied up the $300 when I thought it was $24,950 now it is $30,000 and I want to cancel my preorder.

I don't think you want to imagine the costs for the OEM struts, wheels, and tires either. I hope that if you buy the 20" wheels from the get-go, you don't get charged for the wheels and tires you never received!

Those are some big claims! You think you have to choose the model variant, extended vs standard range, prior to the final price for either being announced? Do you have a source for that claim?

I’m about 99.99% sure must order will be a Blank Slate, everything else to follow.

Yeah, I mean that SUV kit is going to be heavy. "Flat pack"? Uh, maybe they'll compress the seats?
