Seat sitting position relative to the ground, Help us old folks out !

We are trying to figure out if we have to PULL OURSELVES up into the SLATE truck like our Dodge RAM or have to sit DOWN in like our Ford focus. At our age it would be nice to have the seat at typical sitting height, ANYONE have an actual measurement?

Pretty sure from the doors closed look I had at the event, you will have to step up into the truck. it's not as little as people think from photos. If you haven't got a good reference from their size comparisons, maybe add 10% to the size you have in your head.

I vaguely recall Tisha Johnson saying something about designing it to be easy to get into and out of.

A brief search didn't find that, but did find this:

One of the Slates on display had the back seats and open-roof kit installed, which Slate hasn't announced the price of yet. The front seats slide forward really far, and the low floor and big door opening make it fairly easy to climb in and out of the back, though there's the same problem with the side sills. I fit in the back seat with a lot of headroom and legroom, but it's definitely not somewhere I'd want to be for more than a quick trip.​

When I sat in it I remember it being pretty neutral, not to much up or down. I'm 6' tall tho.

I'm not super tall at 6'1", but I still prefer a truck/SUV for getting in and out without needing to crouch down to sit in it. But more important for me is that due to lower back issues, I need a sitting position where my thighs are close to parallel to the floor and knees aren't above hip level.

I simply can't drive a small car that puts my knees higher than my hips any distance without back and hip pain. This is why I currently drive an F150. If the Slate can get me close to the proper position, I'll be happy.

This is my concern: are the seats height adjustable. All I ever read is that 6ft'ers fit. Fine...I'm happy for them. But, how about some info on less than 6ft'ers being able to adjust the seat to a useable position.

How about some feedback from the Ladies at Slate: how do they fit? I'm curious...will my near 5ft spouse be able to find a safe driving position?

I sat in a Slate when it was in Cleveland, which was a year ago now. I didn’t have any comment about getting in or out. Most sedans now are too low for me, and I just spent some time in a Silverado pickup- too high, I had to slide out and pull myself in. (i’m tall, heavy and elderly). I think the Slate is going to be a sweet spot for me, entry/exit wise. Of course, if I could find a brand new Checker Marathon that was electric, I’d buy that.

My main concern is the ability to lift my leg high enough to clear the threshold and where my but lands on the seat as I slide in. Or how high the seat is as I sit on it and swing my legs in. Fortunately for me my 2006 Land Rover has an access height that helps lower the car, but it is getting long in the tooth and needs to be put out to pasture and rest except when it is really needed..

I would hope the next time someone sees a Slate in the wild, they think bout us old people and get a threshold and seat height measurement.

I can probably guess that the 2013 is easier to get into then my 2003 Cooper S. We have a Mini addiction in this family and currently have 5 in the stable.

By the way, you planning to attend any of the upcoming MINI events such as Minis in the Ozarks, Minis on the Mack or maybe the Mini great river run next July?
