You can also just use a 3.5mm aux cord to plug into the speaker, that works as an antenna too and then you get full volume from the external speaker.Not all phones have radios, but those that do it's only fm, not am, and you have to use an external antenna that plugs into the headphone jack; on phones without headphone jack then into usb-c port with an adapter. You can use a pair of headphones as an antenna, or buy dedicated anetennas for 5-10$ (like https://www.amazon.com/ENUODA-Sections-Telescoping-Engineering-Electronics/dp/B0185KMVOO for example)....
