That Tesla Robovan looks pretty sharp. If that had been the Cybertruck, well, it would have been better for Tesla at least.
I realized yesterday that my belief that a van requires sliding doors is wrong, and a two-door van is possible. Though I am not sure if "no rear seats" is good enough to differentiate between a two-door van and a two-door SUV. My original, emotional definition of an SUV, when I was growing up, was a pickup truck with a bed topper that was built in and not removable. (Slate blurs the "not removable" part too.)

Not Tesla, but yesterday there was a video going around of a Waymo robotaxi driving directly over a fireworks sprinkler fountain that some jackasses set off in the middle of an intersection.
Self driving still has some work to do.

Telsa van: I would not get in that AI generated thing. I need to see out all sides. As the text says, it looks like something right out of the 1930s world's fair.
Slate van: I was high on the cargo idea, but I really doubt it will have handy swing out doors. The article's AI doesn't broach the back end because there's little about it. My guess is for first generation it will have the back end of the SUV with a fold down gate and swing up window. That's a little awkward for cargo. But let's see, maybe they'll surprise us. They are still working on the Cargo kit.

Fold-down tailgate and swing-up window is awkward for most cargo, but it's exactly what I would like, just with side windows instead of solid panels. I hate the lack of rear vision that set-up gives and the reliance you have on big side mirrors.
I would be using it more like a pick-up with a solid cap than as a real van, so the extra length from the drop-down tailgate is actually better for me.
