I have read some online ranting that the Slate truck is nothing more than a collection of Chinese parts from Temu. We know the battery is built in Illinois and the motor is made in Georgia but just wondering if anyone has any insight where the rest of the parts are coming from. Stuff like the charge controller, inverter, window glass and front suspension. It would be interesting to know the total American made parts compared to others.

We'll know the percent US content when the AALA report is available

Vetted. IIRC we (the Slate Forum) determined the drive motor is manufactured by JJE Technologies (Jing-Jin Electric), a Chinese corporation with the manufacturing facility located in Detroit, Michigan.

I believe Eric or Jeremy said in a video last month that the window cranks had to be sourced from Brazil because American companies stopped making them. If their aim is to revitalize American manufacturing, maybe they can onshore more of these odd parts as sales build momentum.

The Slate LFP battery pack will be assembled in Manteno, Il by a Chinese company called Gotion. Cells will apparently be sourced in China or Vietnam. Gotion has headquarters in Beijing.

You lost me at, “I read some online ranting…” I’m sure those are exactly the experts this forum has been waiting for. ;-)

Sounds like a business opportunity. A single injection mold could probably make the parts, and then they just need to be assembled (arm and round spinny handle) and delivered. I used to know a guy... 30 years ago...

Yea, credible source.

What kind of stuff? Historically I’ve assumed the products would be total crap and no service if not right. Please correct me so I won’t wallow in this particular part of my pen of ignorance.
