Slate Automotive's origin is a Re:Build project.

Re:Build Manufacturing is a U.S.-based family of industrial businesses focused on revitalizing American manufacturing through advanced technologies, operational excellence, and strategic mergers and acquisitions.

I have read some online ranting that the Slate truck is nothing more than a collection of Chinese parts from Temu. We know the battery is built in Illinois and the motor is made in Georgia but just wondering if anyone has any insight where the rest of the parts are coming from. Stuff like the charge controller, inverter, window glass and front suspension. It would be interesting to know the total American made parts compared to others.
A lot of things were developed with Re:Build. If you look at their site... https://rebuildmanufacturing.com/work/slate/
They developed a proprietary BMS system and composite bed manufacturing process.

The Slate LFP battery pack will be assembled in Manteno, Il by a Chinese company called Gotion. Cells will apparently be sourced in China or Vietnam. Gotion has headquarters in Beijing.
Are you sure it's not just the cells? I assumed Slate had a different partner for packs, possibly in connection to Re:Build. I remember reading they had some kind of pack manufacturing plant. The design definitely involved Re:Build, but that doesn't confirm who's making it, of course.

Battery terms get confused a lot, so I always bring it up when I see something that might be pack/cell confusion.

Sounds like a business opportunity. A single injection mold could probably make the parts, and then they just need to be assembled (arm and round spinny handle) and delivered. I used to know a guy... 30 years ago...
I think it might be more than the handle. There's a lot of weird stuff about safety for side-impacts and pulleys involved. I imagine Slate may start making things like that in-house when they get momentum.

Vetted. IIRC we (the Slate Forum) determined the drive motor is manufactured by JJE Technologies (Jing-Jin Electric), a Chinese corporation with the manufacturing facility located in Detroit, Michigan.
Do we know if that's still the motor? David Tracy from The Autopian took a new photo at the last event.

Just pulled this screen shot from the JJE website about the 200kW EDM (Electic Drive Module). Looks dang close to me. Manufactured in Farmington Hills, MI.

Note the EDM is water and oil cooled, which is why I hope Slate comes out with a 3,500 - 4,000 pound tow package in the future. Adding larger cooling components to the battery/EDM cooling system and a bigger oil cooler for the EDM should add capacity needed to support higher towing limits.

My opinion of course.

Remember that the chassis was engineered for exactly a 1000 lb 2000 lb towing capacity not 1 pound more. ;)

Exactly 1,000 pounds, until it doubled to 2,000 pounds. Magically... 🤣

Maybe Slate needs to do a web commercial like Ford did back in the day where the hung a Ranger from just one bolt used to hold the bed to the frame.*

Hang a Slate, ass end, from the receiver hitch...

*(hoping my Dinoboomer brain is remembering the Ford commercial correctly...) - LOL.

Don't forget about the brake rating.

The real problem would be the amount of flex caused by completely deleting the Maverick's last "truck rating" advantage (currently more payload, more bed volume, frunk, equal towing unless the Maverick has a 4K tow package). 😆

Brakes are big enough. Besides, depending on the state, 3,500 to 4,000 pounds gets you into trailer brakes regs.

Makes me kind of sad; I'm 30-years past prime - LOL. I'd have love to been part of the RE:Build/Slate team startup. How frickin much fun they are having!
