Crazy that Slate is still that much smaller than a Maverick or Santa Cruz. I'm also surprised that the windshield is steep in comparison to those alternatives! I love the boxy nostalgic look, but I wonder what the added range would be with a little more slope.

Speaking of boxy nostalgic looks, can I ask you to run the render with a few 80s/90s pickups, like a Ranger, S10, or Toyota SR5?

The Slate is a 4" taller, 3.5" wider, 1" shorter overall, 1" longer wheelbase, and about 1,025 pounds heavier. Round numbers.

Looks like the windshield angle on the Maverick is about the same.
One thing I notice on the freeway, spot a small truck that's actually small, ok it's an older model, look at the name, then look around at tailgates, find another with the same name, it's newer, the tailgate is higher, bigger, truck is wider, cab is higher, hood looks almost like it belongs on a semi. Bed is likely shorter. And that's all if it's not lifted.

The Slate comes in about 4 inches shorter, but 4 inches taller and 4 inches wider, than my base model 2004 Tacoma single cab. The Tacoma bed is about 1 foot longer.

As much as the 65kWh LFP was the right choice, I do lament the increased capacity and drop in energy density bringing that weight figure up by ~440 pounds. 😢

At least, I hope you're using the 4048 figure and not the old 3602 one for that. At least battery weight is low, at least it's low, at least it's low...

I matched it against the 1st Gen Ranger because I had a new 1987 STX back in the day and was curious how the dimensions stacked up.

Yes, I used the 4,048 spec. I agree, about the weight penalty. It's obvious Slate couldn't hit its price target without switching to LFP. The single battery/single SKU strategy would have worked with NMC at 240 miles but it probably bumped the price to $28K (i.e. not mid-twenties). No one would have complained about $25K and 240 miles of range.

And I still think 200+ range was always going to be the number due to CARB regs in Cali.
