The harlequin one is definitely an older iteration. Some other tells are the pass-through panel on the back of the midgate, and the NACS cover with the angled corner instead of square.

I think that is the actual steel wheel. The only cap is over the lug nuts in the center.

Initially I thought that too, but this photo Pluglyf makes it look like the center cover extends outward over the wheel as a partial areo cover. There appears to be an edge to ring around the center cap if you look toward to the top of the image. It is possible that is an illusion.

I don't think so. That's just how the steel wheel is made. Since it has 1-PD, there's no real need to put ventilation holes in the wheel.

I saw the Slate on display in DC last October. I was curious about the wheels and knocked on the surface that gets the decals and it was solid. My conclusion was it was part of the wheel and not a cover.

If you zoom in there is no gap between the cap and the rounded nubs.
