I am in the market for one of those scale model trucks.
You never know, that could be the only Slate I might be able to buy!

Looks like there is to me. That's why I asked.

The color is so even with the background center cap that I'm guessing it is one piece of injection molded plastic. Lug nut covers are pretty common on cheap cars from 2010 on.

I think that is the actual steel wheel. The only cap is over the lug nuts in the center.
From the SAE international video of the Slate launch party, here's the steel wheel with just the vinyl ring on it:

Here's a photo from Reddit of a truck on the road near Troy with the cover off:

Shutter speed must've been fast to get that little blur on the highway! Shows the actual lug nuts and spindle cover under the hubcap.

I think it might be cool to get some solid acorn nuts and replace the cover with a 3D printed colorful one, or maybe Plasti-Dip the stock one.

That's how I'm going to run mine, take off the cap and get some chrome lug nuts.

Nah. I want full white steelies, with chrome lug nuts.

Or silver paint with chrome beauty rings.

Or poverty dog-dish chrome hubcaps.

But that ugly standard wheel and hubcap have got to go! Seriously lame.

Does anyone else wonder how they're going to poka-yoke these? In my mind, I see the orange ring bobbing up and down while going down the road for the DIY installs.

Sal on one of the Facebook Slate groups was at the NY Crayola event and made this informative video on cab size and his fit at 6'5 and 307lbs.
