I'm looking at this one for the same purpose:

I hope that works out the way it's intended. I don't plan on relying on it, myself. The etrailer bed extender can support longer 2-bys or our kayaks a little better. It'll be useful on my husband's VW DoKa as well... it's got a short bed, too...

A bedliner of some kind is always a good thing, even if just a mat. While the bed material on Slate is already plastic, a liner will keep the sun and your loads from shredding it over time. If and when you go to sell it, you will be in better shape.
