Suspension Poll: Lifted, Lowered, or Standard Height?

...basically both kits are mainly cosmetic to me.

You can choose to expect this and be pleasantly surprised if they aren't, or choose to expect otherwise and be disappointed if they are.

I've been keen on keeping mine factory height, but I keep seeing lowered short cab F150s around here, and I have to say... I do like it!

Pardon the terrible compression, but I offer you the "The M1 Abrams has better sight lines than many trucks in a school zone" chart to add to that.

... same with backing up. How many check their backup camera backing down their driveway or out of the garage, when they are "sure" it's clear?

I remember seeing news that some model of car had an urgent recall related to a parking assistance system that would fail and take the backup camera with it. The backup camera was referred to as "backover protection".

Can't imagine why anyone wouldn't check the backup camera, but my car has truly awful rear visibility otherwise.

Current truck is a '17 Chevy 1500 4x4 std cab, 8 foot box with topper, work truck trim. Real basic low res wide angle back up camera. Even with the camera I've tapped things. Image perspective is like looking back with the passenger side rear view mirror. Objects closer than they look. But without??? Probably would have thumped more things.

Considering SUV or Cargo Kit. Current truck I see zilch through the cab's back window through the topper. Three layers of deeply tinted class to look through. Plus high position. Add the B pillar that are similar is relative size to the Slate Truck. Need rear view side mirrors and backup camera. The Slate Truck looks to have relatively small mirrors. Hope the rear viewing camera is of high resolution and wide FOV.

Even with the lift kit the Slate truck bed will be considerably lower than the 36" of the 1500. Low is "cool" and fine for urban driving. Not practical for rural, country driving. Or for using a truck as a truck. Also, for some of rural paved highways. We have many bridges to cross. 9 to cross on my 22 mile commute to work prior retirement. Most have a bit of bump or roll that depending on the season can bounce you. Std ride height should be fine. Lift kit would be better for winter and mud season.
