T-Rail accessories to add on

What are some great accessories to use with the t-rails? I was thinking of getting the one for behind the seats, in the cab. Maybe hang some stuff? I'm not sure what other possibilities there are.

I'm thinking I'll add some clips behind the seats to hang some storage (and things like the jump pack I carry around, charging adapters, etc).

I just picked up a mag-safe mount for the phone. I like the convenience of a magnetic holder over the included universal dock. It comes with a stupid vent clip for all of those loser-mobiles that don't have t-track all over their vehicles like our awesome Slates do. I'll be making an adapter to fit the track.

In general, Im very curious about exactly how much practical space there is behind the seats. Obviously, where we individually have the seats positioned varies, but I can't really envision what kinds of uses Slate had in mind, given the offer of the t-rail for this location.

I'm same holds true of the t-rail they're offering for the exterior side of the rear cabin wall (hesistate to call it a mid-gate, since I doubt it'll...."gate").

I'd prefer mounting my phone horizontally and higher than Slate's phone mount. location

Maybe there'll be a RAM Mount (or something similar) that can do that?

I'd personally go with the rails in the bed for a cleaner look than the top, especially to keep tie down points lower, but since the bolt spacing is identical, you could easily swap the rails to the tops or the sides pretty easily.

My vote is top mounted T-Rails. I’ve also added tie down loops to the stake pockets in the 3 trucks I’ve previously owned even though 2 of them had interior bed tie down loops. For hauling motorcycles or bicycles your strap angularity is better from the top of the rail. Also when you fill the bed with lading like furniture it can be a pain to access interior tie downs. I personally like the utilitarian look of older trucks that had tie down cleats on the exterior of the bed.(Ford Courier, Datsun, Ford Sportrac and others). Hope this helps!

Do you mind sharing what you ended up with? That is the #1 thing I'll be looking for to replace the default phone holder (I also sent them a message that they should just offer a magsafe version as an option - and find it strange that they don't). I don't even care if it charges or not - it's just a far more convenient mounting option.

This is the one I went with [Amazon Link], but it looks like the price just jumped up from where it was a few days ago. Simple, just a mag mount, no charge. Looks like I can easily disassemble the vent clip and adapt it with a t-nut or similar. Haven't gotten it yet though, so I can report back later on whether it'll work or not.

sooooo... my take on the purpose of a non-mag mount is that the specifically want to offer a solution that involves connecting your device via USB-C, which I'd think is very challenging if magnetic.

Why? because I think they want to promote the ease of various information functions that will only work when cabled - meaning "stuff in their app". Examples include the promised "ODB data", possibly charge settings, and what I'm hoping for - realtime vehicle data while driving; stuff that clearly won't be avaible on the small instrument display.

Why? because I think they want to promote the ease of various information functions that will only work when cabled - meaning "stuff in their app". Examples include the promised "ODB data", possibly charge settings, and what I'm hoping for - realtime vehicle data while driving; stuff that clearly won't be avaible on the small instrument display.

Oh I've definitely thought about that. I'd just much rather manually plug a cable in than mechanically operate some sort or pinch/clamp mount every time. Not to mention that I almost exclusively use foldable phones and being that they're mostly thicker than standard phones, I'm not quite sure yet how it'll fit.

That said, I've created and 3D printed phone holders in the past (that used to fit Pro Clip style mounts), even with fixed USB cables. So I could always go down that route later if it made more sense.
