V2L connection (vehicle-to-load) confirmed. Power tools & appliances w/ your Slate truck

I definitely want a power output option as well for overnight camping mode. Would like to see 10 A 120 AC output. But just a DC port to which I could connect my own external inverter would be fine.

Slate confirmed it will have a V2L connection.

Wonder how this will play into the ‘One Production Line; One Vehicle off that line?

There are a couple specific components that would have to be included in the HVB system, if one opts for the V2L accessory and would unnecessary for those vehicles ordered without it.

I personally have that feature included on both my current EVs and might opt for it on the Slate, depending on the cost of course.

For others unfamiliar with what V2L (Vehicle To Load) capability provides, it means your EV can be used as Battery Bank, apparently by using some sort of adapter.

I think V2L is great as a built in inverter. Hopefully the output is at least 2K watts. Also would like to know more about voltage step down to 12v and how that will be supplied.

This stuff is sort of out of my lane, but if there are Auxiliary Buttons it seems like there must be 12V power.

A DC 12V to AC 110V inverter from Wally World costs $24.20. No doubt that's a wimpy inverter, but it stands to reason that the cost of inverter components must not be astronomical.

Maybe one of those Aux Buttons could switch on an AC outlet in the bed somewhere near the tailgate. That would be useful.

After a power outage at my home during an ice storm, V2L was the main reason I made a deposit on a Ford Lightning pickup, which I subsequently canceled and bought a Jeep Gladiator pickup instead.

Hopefully it will be an added option… I hadn’t seen this thread and just reached out to Slate and was told V2L won’t be included on the initial production model. They didn’t explicitly say it would or wouldn’t be available as an added option in the response I got.

I may follow up with the Slate rep and clarify if it will be an option at all. Hopefully they just meant that it won’t be a standard option.

There’s no way V2L will be standard. It’s a bare bones truck with hand crank windows! We’ve become quite pampered these days. Slate is hitting full reverse and bringing us back to the 80s (you didn’t see any outlets in those beds)
