Will Exterior Mandated Sound be customizable?

Since Slate is allowing us to customize so much, can we customize the mandatory sound it makes? I want it to sound like The Jetsons car.

It would be extremely cool if they let us do something like that, and I could see a possibility of the software being able to check that any sound files meet AVAS standards. That said, I doubt that will be on a day-one software version, and if it comes at all, will likely be made available via an update down the line. Or perhaps they offer a marketplace of SLATE-vetted sounds, like how you can only buy ringtones from iTunes on iPhone devices?

I am anxious to hear what the OEM AVAS sound is. My family purchased a 2020 RAV4 hybrid, and I can only describe that sound as the tormented screams of the angelic host. It’d be cool to not have such a daunting sound!

I highly doubt it. That would take more hardware and software flexibility and that would cost more. Maybe only a couple of dollars, but more none the less.

If all the sounds are different, nobody will know what they mean. As a pedestrian, I want to be able to recognize the sound of a car approaching and know for sure it's not something else.

Unfortunately, they're already completely random between a bunch of manufacturers. You have whines, hisses, warbles, choirs, spaceships, and more. Of the options, I feel like spaceship is the best, but they're definitely not uniform.

Seems just like more "EV hate/fear of the new thing" going on. Any new-ish ICE car with an intact exhaust is only has audible tire noise.

You could add a PA system.

Make sure you install a train horn while you are at it

I think the underrated use for a PA system would be to direct traffic at a supercharger. This way you can be louder than the fat guy that declared himself lot boss.

I like the spaceship too. That's the one I remember hearing. Hope Slate does that one.

EVs are downright noisy here in the Desert Southwest during hot weather.
