With bonus electrons $30,000 (minus a penny)
With standard battery $27,000 (minus a penny)
Lower if possible because I hope they use "Penetration Pricing"(1) for the truck itself and the accessories as well.
Get some units out there and build some Production Muscle :muscle:, then adjust prices...
I'm an EV n00b, but it seems like in very hot or cold conditions the battery needs heating and cooling too, not just the cab/cabin.
Here's my thermometer pointing at the street when it was 104°F outside:
ShowerThought:
Maybe they could make another truck similar to the original but with AWD, 32- or even 33-inch tires, long-travel suspension, and skid plates. Grrr.
An Off-Road Edition Slate Truck would accept existing add-ons.
WiFi or Bluetooth shouldn't be necessary for typical day-to-day operation of the vehicle.
Vehicles from ~2007 have ability to make settings using a two-line dot-matrix dashboard screen and some buttons. (Ask me how I know. :))
Slate could provide a way to set regen-level and adjust charging...
A time-lapse of a single person installing the SUV Kit would be helpful.
Methinks a video of that would get a lot of views.
Maybe then a video of converting it back to a pickup. That way the two could be made into a mesmerizing continuous loop they could display at trade shows and Demo Days...
They could probably do a lot with an "extended cab" version of the OG truck design.
There'd be lots of parts re-use, room for a whopper battery, and who knows what else the Design Team could come up with.
The image I posted was an attempt at humor.
FWIW, yesterday I mentioned AWD two places in my post in that video's thread, including what Eric Kyper said regarding Slate's portfolio of vehicles.
For lots of reasons I'd put the chances of a DIY Retrofit AWD Kit at 1% tops. Let's not hijack this...
[I was going to say a DIY retrofit kit, but that leaves out the possibility of a kit installable by an approved technician.]
Eric Kyper says Slate Auto will have "a Slate portfolio of vehicles with additional features that may or may not fit right underneath the frunk".
Notice that he refers...
I've been under the impression that the Cargo Kit topper (on the fleet page of their site) is different from the SUV Kit because it has no windows, nor is it likely to have a removable top panel.
Presumably the Cargo Kit also there'll be capability to have a full-height partition so your 1,000...
All-Terrain are mostly decorative on the Slate Truck because the chassis will be too stiff and the suspension travel will be too short for doing any serious off-roading.
Something to note:
The All-Terrain tires Slate Auto has been showing us are not 32-inch tires. They're 31-inchers.
Even if...
The agents' tendency is to be optimistically encouraging, sometimes to a fault.
My wishful thinking was that I could install light and narrow All-Terrain tires on 16-inch wheels. The first two times I asked, they said "yes". The third time I was very specific about whether the 16-inch wheel...
