Blank slate narrative is a mistake, and that needs to change

Regen braking would produce increased wear on the tire. That could account for it. Anyone track race here? think about how much stress your tires go through: accel, decel, and cornering. and yes, I know the chemistry is different and all that so im ignoring that fact (since its moot - they...

Update: Ford's EV 'Model T moment' Announced

Its not surveys. They dont need those. its the car itself and everything you bring into it and connect to it. In some cases, its even able to access your home and/or work. The more you tie it all together, the more you're sharing. How do I know? I do this stuff for a living...

Double DIN-ish - think outside the box.

This is the kind of thing I'll be doing. Think big folks, thats the point. Bigger even. But this is a good start. Car alarm/security, internet interface; add pop out monitors, amps, & speakers and its your mobile media server, entertainment console, system remote access, and anything else...

Regen braking non adjustable ? Deal breaker for me.

The physical controller would have to allow it. Its added complexity to the physical circuit to allow for it. Pennies or dollars, no idea, but its added cost and complexity so not really their target.

Update: Ford's EV 'Model T moment' Announced

Semis traditionally have .5 to .8, while a tesla semi has .35 apparently. The Cybertruck is about the same as their semi at just over .3, very close to most cars (.2 to .3) and better than most trucks (.5 to .65) For comparison, the Lamborghini Countach (1980s iconic 'supercar') has a drag...

Who wants this battery in their blank Slate?

Doing the math on the back of my hand...(counts on fingers)...the time line for public presentation lands around April 1st..... I'd like to see this all pan out (who wouldnt, seriously? This would be AWESOME!), but just that one dumb fact keeps getting stuck in my brain. And its not like we...

Blank slate narrative is a mistake, and that needs to change

I blame the mass adoption of drive throughs and the fast food culture on the decline of MT. Cell phones were just the coffin nail. Maybe mom and dad got an AT so they could eat and drive, or maybe just so junior wouldnt keep kicking the damn shifter out of gear while sitting on the front bench...

    Regenerative Braking and RWD...

Adding more bells and whistles is also very much counter to KISS and low cost. I'm not surprised they didnt go that route at all.

    Regenerative Braking and RWD...

Just curious because I have no idea - are those AWD? I could see the AWD being able to adjust the amount of RB being applied per wheel, which would explain the handling effects (just like TC or ABS basically). It could be done either mechanically or electronically. Weight bias is situational...

Regen braking non adjustable ? Deal breaker for me.

Honestly, it just sounds like driving a stick. Leave it in a gear and take your foot off the gas. I dont understand why this is so controversial?

    Regenerative Braking and RWD...

This one does less science and more real explaining. It also does touch on tire friction, weight transfer, and motor/RB aggressiveness effecting efficiency. https://chargedevs.com/features/regenerative-braking-a-closer-look-at-the-methods-and-limits-of-regen/

    Regenerative Braking and RWD...

the axle suppling drag is where youll do ~99% of the 'braking' until you apply actual brakes. the last ~1% is air resistance and nominal drag any rolling assembly will have, braking or otherwise. The weight bias F/R plays into handling. It effects the breaking force needed to over come the...

Composite Plastic Body Panel Care (Cleaning, Protecting, Waxing, Coating)

I dont plan to, but maybe just spray on bed liner and call it good. Its not like I dont see one of those everyday already on the road. Plastic or metal, whos going to know?

    What would you tow?!

AFAIK, you could probably get tow packages for the 2008 C300 in EU, but not US. If it follows the usual patterns from around that time, there would be body gussets added and a change to the suspension and transmission. It may only have been offered on the AWD model there, too. I DO know...
