AM/FM Radio is a safety issue

Not sure if it was there before or with the updater we can see it good now, but I could definitely see fitting if not a full double din at least a single din in, mount one side to the driver's side there and then fashion a bracket that slots in on the passenger side of the radio, the 12v is even...

VIDEO: The Rise and Fall of American Small Affordable Pickup Trucks

I feel like they cribbed off my post here some, and yeah the AI narration is pretty painful, it was the Chevrolet LUV pronounced like love, I had one briefly, also the Isuzu wasn't called the Faster here, it was called the P'up, but would hate to hear how they butcher that. -Jim

EV owners could soon pay $250 annual tax to use US roads?

Ah the honor system, I see so many cars around with missing plates or plates in the back window, so my suggestion probably wouldn't work much better. Sure let’s choose optimism! -Jim

EV owners could soon pay $250 annual tax to use US roads?

An alternative to disproportionate taxes or calculating individual use is just toll all the major roads and residential tax for the side streets. To calculate usage would need either an annual inspection or some sort of tracker, many states don’t have inspections, or even like NC does but cars...

I think I am “over The Slate”

If you're planning to get the SUV kit I definitely understand the hesitation. That kit is one of the few options they've actually put a number on, $5k, just for that kit, and truck pricing targeting mid-$20ks, so for the SUV and nothing else you're looking at $30k. That's what Ford is...

    90s mini truck styling

I gave it another go, I really do like the 90s styling, not sure if I'd go full white on the bumpers, but went with the Frontier graphics, and I really think I may go with teal. Whenever I see a nice teal car or truck riding around it really catches my eye. Also really like that white grill...

    90s mini truck styling

I played around with some of the DJ Set starter they have but I've done the 90s deal with my 2000 Ranger Electric already, for the Slate, especially with the square body and grille I'm digging more of a 70s/80s two tone vibe. Current truck: Thinking something like this if go to a Slate:

Slate Hires New CEO Peter Faricy. Ex-CEO Chris Barman appointed new role

I think it's just adding more structure, my company did that the past year, we had a CEO when we were less than 50 employees and a very flat reporting structure, once we hit near 50 the CEO changed roles more to marketing and such and our new CEO came in that was more business focused, along...

The small truck market point that's brought up.

One thing of note, at max capacity the Slate factory can only build 140-150k trucks a year. Which funnily enough is how many reservations they have. Now I'm sure they'd love to be that successful but don't think that's what they plan for the first few years. Assuming that's running 3...

The small truck market point that's brought up.

Absolutely, thank you for the response, and it's a great point on the Ford platform, but I will say their first product off the line, be it more like the Maverick or more like a Ranchero, will be compared to the Slate, or the Slate will be compared to. I'm reminded of when I worked at an oil...

The small truck market point that's brought up.

I was going to reply in another thread, but this goes a bit long and don't want to take from that. The topic of the market is brought up frequently, and having lived through most of it and still having a small EV truck I'd like to review some points on the market for the Slate or other small...

Problems you are worried about Slate having with the production prototypes.

I think my main concern will be the battery/charging. SK On is known, but we've seen other established makes like Hyundai and Ford, that use Sk On batteries, have issues with the batteries and charging. Notoriously Hyundai with their still haven't resolved ICCU(integrated charger controller...

Used EV Wave Incoming. Anyone Else Watching This?

Our Honda Prologue will be going off lease in early 2028, and we will not be buying it out, as we're already seeing used ones 1 year in for less than our buyout in 2 years. As for the plan at that time, It's just my wife and I, we briefly(about 8 months) had only EV cars and a motorcycle, but...

Slate at Fort Worth Stockyards - photos & impressions. First deliveries Nov-Dec 2026

That'd be cool, an option for stepside would be nice, but looking at the frame I think the bed is needed structurally, especially with the battery weight under it, as the 'frame' isn't a full ladder frame there'd probably be some flex without it.
