    The Donut Story Continues.

I haven't been there, but there are pictures of the Verge at Bike Shed on the internet. I also listened to a podcast where they test road them there. I assume it's similar to Slate where the bikes are direct to consumer, but they have worked something out at Bike Shed where you can test ride...

Three Months Before Price Announcement. Guess the MSRP.

I went with over $27k, because I'm thinking $27,499. It lines up with the under $20k when there was still a tax credit. It is also still mid-20s if you define mid-20s as $22,501 to $27,499.

EV owners could soon pay $250 annual tax to use US roads?

Personally, I think that the gas tax should be dumped in favor of a VMT/weight based tax. Take the miles traveled per year and multiply it by some weight based factor. This would be the most equitable way to pay for our roads.

Slate at Fort Worth Stockyards - photos & impressions. First deliveries Nov-Dec 2026

I suspect that would be an aftermarket solution like Jeeps.

The Gladiator system is stupid simple. It's just a couple of hooks that shorten the cable. Fits right in with the Slate KISS principal...I can't imagine they would miss that opportunity.

If It Weren't for Slate, I Would Get...

The plan is to get a campervan for future road trips and the Slate would be my around town commuter. If I don't get a Slate, I'll likely just get another 2-door Wrangler for bopping around town and the occasional trip to Moab/Sedona.

Taking the doors off and open-air kit questions

As a Jeep guy, I definitely prefer half doors over no doors for a few reasons. 1 - I have a place to rest my arm. 2 - If it looks like rain, I can put the half windows in. 3 - Still VERY good views when wheeling and 4 - I just like how they look better. Here is my old Wrangler. In my old age...

    Hubcaps for base wheels?

Same! Got bronze wheels currently on my Jeep as well as on my Slate in the builder.

Slate truck build: official OEM lift kit, side steps, roof rack, bed rack, fender flares, alloy wheels 😍

I've run a lot of different tires on my Jeeps and I always end up going back to KO2s. They last forever (over 60k miles on my current set), are great offroad, quiet on road for an all-terrain and relatively low weight (assuming the class C tires like I run). I'm in Arizona, so not a lot of...

Who wants this battery in their blank Slate?

You can place a reservation ($100) for the bike on the Verge website with an estimated delivery of Q1 2026. Since that is within the next few months, they better have a product to deliver shortly. I can't imagine that these are imaginary at this point.

Will the Slate’s 8 seconds to 60 mph be adequate for safe highway merging?

My CJ5 had the manual 3 speed transmission. I'm sure I'm likely misremembering, but seems like it's top speed was about 55 mph...or at least that was how fast I was comfortable driving it.
