Iāve had my smart for 18 years. It was one of the first in the country. Iāve loved it and still do in many ways. The premium gas was always a bummer, but itās always a conversation piece, fun to drive and you can park it anywhere. When/if itās done, the Slate would replace it.
I totally get it! I too signed up early, and if I needed a 3rd car Iād get it. But as much as I like the idea of the minimalist barebones vehicle (and electric) I really donāt need a 3rd car. We have a nice Lexus for road trips and I need my big old pickup for towing my boats. So, since the...
I really like the barebones minimalist approach to Slate. But the ācustomableā part is a little over done I think. To make it an SUV Iām sure would put it over $30K. And other ācustomizationā seems mostly cosmetic. Not like putting on a high performance muffler or a new carburetor or new...
Yep. Like I said, much of the time 4WD is not needed. But like you said, there are times when it is needed. My son lives in a place where without 4WD he might not make it out of the neighborhood.
. Being raised in Michigan in the 50s and 60s I donāt get the need for 4WD! I know itās handy sometimes and maybe even necessary at times but we never had it and my current old pickup doesnāt have 4WD. Most of the time thereās really no need for it. As Click and Clack the Car Talk guys used...
Back in the day (1960s-ā70s) O-60 in 10 seconds was pretty good! 0-60 in 8 seconds was pretty great! I donāt see any problem with the 0-60 time and even the top speed. Honestly, how often would anyone need anything faster? All looks good to me.
We have a 30 amp plug on our house for when my son comes to visit in his RV. Iām thinking I could use that for my Slate. Will have to do some more checking on that. This will be my first EV.
Re the color of the wheels, I too havenāt been a fan of all black either. But I plan on painting my wheels white soon after I get it along with painting the grill white and maybe the top. Kinda like some of the new Broncos. I love that look.
Iām looking forward to seeing one in person. But Iāve called Slate a couple times about different things and the people Iāve talked to have been wonderful! I want to buy a Slate just to help support them!
