  1. New touring event dates are up on the Slate Events page!

    Please come to Florida!
  2. Inside our Warsaw Factory [Official Slate Video]

This is one of the reasons I’ve put my $50 down for a Slate. Not just because since the beginning of electric cars I’ve thought there ought to be a simple affordable EV, and not just because I’m a minimalist at heart, but also because I grew up in Detroit and have always had a soft spot in my...
  3. Inside EVs: I Saw The Affordable Slate Truck In Person. Now I’m Worried

Honestly…look around. How many vehicles have more than one or two people in them? I’ve driven a smart for two for 17 years. It’s a second car, but never an issue needing more than a 2 person car.
  4. You can go fast or you can go far, but you can't do both

If maximum range is an issue it sounds like a person plans on long trips. Honestly, for around town 140 miles is plenty of range. Not many people drive more than that in a day. If you take trips get a gas powered car. That’s what we have. And I’m interested in the 20/80 charging. I’ve never...
  5. EVs will not be allowed on HOV lanes with only a driver after September 30

I don’t get it. Why couldn’t a pickup with two passengers (driver and one other person) go on an HOV lane? My wife and I in our car go in them and have never had a question about it. Are some HOV lanes for only 3 or more people?
  6. Is launching a boat or jetskis going to be an issue?

I grew up in Michigan. I don’t remember anyone ever having anything other than rear wheel drive. Snow, launching boats, etc. Never an issue. I’m actually looking forward to having a rear wheel drive only vehicle again even though I have been a front wheel drive fan for a long time and had one...
  7. Is launching a boat or jetskis going to be an issue?

no need to get even the back wheels in the water when launching something normally. Shouldn’t be an issue
  8. For fun - Overall Size / Wheelbase of Slate truck compared to other vehicles

I’ll be replacing my smart with the Slate. So it’s going to feel really big!
  9. Slate makes the cover of Car & Driver magazine!

That will sell for a lot of folks like me!
  10. Slate makes the cover of Car & Driver magazine!

I don t care about new design for the sake of new design. Lexus had done pretty well with the RX 350 which hasn’t changed it looks much at all over the years (since at least 2016). But it sells because it is reliable and comfortable. New, better technology is good but simple new design for the...
  11. Slate makes the cover of Car & Driver magazine!

Since EVs first came out in the past several years (not back around the turn of the century when EVs were as common as CEVs. Really! Look it up. Oil guys killed the first EVs along with infrastructure technology etc) I’ve been waiting for someone to come up with a simple, minimalist WV. This...
  12. Dear Slate - you need to show these things before I'll buy

I think some kind of autocorrect attacked your comment. ?? :-)
  13. Dear Slate - you need to show these things before I'll buy

I put $100 down and waited a year for one of the first smarts to enter the country. Only drove one around the block once before that. I’ve really enjoyed it for 17 years! Great little car and so easy to park anywhere. I’m going to miss that and would be keeping it. But the Slate looks too...
  14. Dear Slate - you need to show these things before I'll buy

Right on! I hope Slate is listening. I sent my $50 in and hope to get one, but everything you said would really help! šŸ‘
  15. Yes, the Slate DOES compete with the Maverick (and more!)

My son in law was ready to get a Lightening but when he found the range when towing (he pulls a camper) was about 80 miles, he opted for a Chevy Silverado 6.6 V8 and is happy.
