I saw a short video about Slate in the spring and thought it sounded interesting, but then got busy with other things. Then, this summer, when I was looking into electric trucks, I saw another video about the Slate and was hooked. I had previously looked at Rivian, but they're just way too big...
Yep, I want the top with no seats and windows too. Not sure about the rollbars - I want to put a roof rack on and I'm not sure what's required.
I did write to Slate to ask about a few options, so we'll see what they say.
When I was talking to Christian from Slate at their in person event in SF in August, I think he said that was an option, to get the cargo version of the Slate. I was asking about getting the SUV kit without the seats. I think both are options. But I'm hoping for more details.
There are Slate employees working on fleet business development. I met one of them, Christian, at one of their Slate to State events. And there is a page talking about the Slate as a fleet vehicle:

I have no interest in another ICE vehicle. Maintenance is too expensive. And with rooftop solar panels, I never want to buy gasoline ever again. I don't have money to burn.
Interesting. I actually wouldn't want it if it had 4 doors. I don't want a back seat either.
There are tons of 4 door vehicles out there. It's annoying that there aren't more 2 door vehicles to choose from.
Philadelphia might be a good location for people from its next door neighbor, New Jersey.
Meanwhile, I'm wondering where in the SF Bay Area they'll be going. I drove up to the event in SF, but I'd go again.
Fine with me. With kayaks on a roof rack, I can't go over 80 mph. I'll be much happier avoiding roads with high speed limits and fast drivers. I love the backroads.
Gonna throw in The Minutemen - Double Nickels on the Dime - a reference to being just fine with doing 55 on Interstate 10, and...
Thank you!
I'm really hoping that the Slate Truck will meet my needs. It might, but I'm still trying to figure that out.
One element would be finding out the weight added with the SUV kit, minus the seat, but with a roof rack and extended roof rack over the SUV part of the truck.
The next...
