If slate didn't exist I'd probably buy a "Maverick" made by Toyota. But Slate showed up and is literally everything I've been wanting.
Well other than a 1.5' longer bed and a bench seat. But beggers can't be choosers.
They don't need 2000lbs capacity to pull a 2k trailer. You can get an aluminum 2k trailer that's about 300lbs. Then you would be limited to 700lbs on the trailer if you want to stay within the tow rating of the truck.
We have a 16k trailer we pull with a truck with a 10,000lbs tow rating. You...
If all the weights turn out to be correct (curb, extended battery, payload) then it looks like I'll be getting the standard battery. Was hoping it would be sub 4000lbs with extended battery. Also the payload is a bit too low for me with it added.
$5 above cost would be cash flow positive 🤷 I think the point they're making is they won't be losing money on each truck like a lot of other startups. Any amount above cost is a win.
I have a 2018 Chevy Sonic that does 0-60 in 8 seconds. And I've never thought I didn't have the acceleration to get out of any situation.
What I find interesting is the Sonic has a similar curb weight but only 140hp. Seems like the Slate should be faster. But that might be gearing.
I think the SUV kit is also good marketing. Like how many people will buy the base slate thinking "oh I can add the SUV kit later" and then never do because they end up not needing it. But if they thought that they would need the second row and the kit wasn't available, they would have bought...
A 0-60 in 8 seconds will make this the second fastest vehicle I've owned 😂 honestly most people don't even use the "3,4,6,whatever" 0-60. 8 seconds is plenty to keep up with most traffic because the average 0-60 of cars today is 6-10 secs.
