Yes! That whole part of the video really excited me. Because this has only been in the public eye for a couple of months and for those of us outside of the industry, it's easy to think that it must have so much still to do to get ready for production, and I'm sure that's still somewhat accurate...
Nice! This is the kind of video I've been checking youtube for daily! Glad to see the tire mount can be accessorized with the standard bumper... So much more excited about this vehicle after watching this. Just genius in so many ways. Seeing how they've simplified on so many levels gives me more...
I doubt they’ll depreciate at the same rate. Part of the reason so many EV’s depreciate as they do is because they’re stupidly expensive and there’s a general resistance to them thanks to large scale misinformation campaigns. Hopefully it’ll depreciate more in line with typical new car...
Depends entirely on the mods. If it’s using slate parts or quality third party that are going to be designed for DIY installation then yes. I would just remove them if I don’t like them.
Has anyone asked about the square plastic piece in the center front wall of the truck bed? Is it just a cosmetic change in the plastic or does it open? Would be nice if it could pass through to hold longer pieces of lumber
Things do seem to be up in the air a little still on that. I think that’s the likely scenario that they end up going away completely with this administration, but from my understanding there’s currently a provision in there still for manufacturers who have sold less than 200k vehicles that...
From some of the pictures I've seen of the interior, it seems that the SUV shell has pivoting pieces that use designated points on the roll cage to hold them in place, so unless they change that design, it may require the roll cage to hold those pieces in place. Maybe they'll come up with...
Glad to hear other chemistries may be an option... Hopefully LFP ends up making it into production. I don't really know all the rules with the tax credit or if it'll even be a consideration when production starts, but being able to regularly charge to 100% as well as having the thermal stability...
Hadn’t put much thought into how that would work, but that plastic panel at the front of the bed does look like it would come out. That makes me wonder if that space is accessible as some hidden storage when it’s in truck mode or if it’s sealed off completely by the panel at the front of the bed…
According to their social media, they have a wrapped vehicle with SUV kit at Motoring Coffee in L.A. for the month (not sure if that's just the rest of the month or a month from when they posted)
I love the idea of a sunroof for the removable SUV kit roof panel - yes that panel can be removed for open air, but there are times of year where open air isn't ideal, but having the light and openness of a sunroof is. That would be cool option for Slate to offer - either a translucent panel or...
As others have said, there's pretty much no way they start out at anything but a loss with all the startup costs. I think there's so much potential here though long term. I would imagine the profit margin on the truck itself will be relatively small if they're true to the ~$27k price tag, but...
Ah! I just checked this like an hour ago and there wasn't anything new at that point. Glad they've got some specifics... bummed there's nothing remotely close to my area. Was considering going to the Salt Lake City one if it materialized, but bummed they took it off.
Those of you that get to go...
The rep told me neither V2L nor outlets in the frunk/bed would be included on the initial production, but they didn’t say it wouldn’t be an option to add… so that may be the case. It may also be the case that the rep who responded to me or the one that responded to you doesn’t have completely...
That may be that we need to be more specific… I did specifically ask Slate about V2L as well as outlets in the bed or frunk. The answer I got back was that neither would be in the initial production vehicle. They did not specify or even mention if it would be an added option or not.
I’ve seen...

This looks very similar to the Jeep Cherokee I had back in the day. First vehicle I purchased with my own money. RWD and developed a cracked muffler and could be heard coming a mile away. Leaked oil all over the driveway. Has some resemblance to the Slate in SUV mode though...
