Your reservation gets you a Slate test drive in 2026!

Not being able to take my possible slate purchase and beat the piss out of it for 10 min or so would severely impact by desire to buy one

Slate’s affordability model being adopted at GM

They've actually said they plan on releasing an even cheaper sub model. Like I mentioned elsewhere, i think the market whiplash is coming to an end and at least GM, Ford Tesla and others are kind of seeing what needs to be done. Stellantis and Toyota seem more than happy to keep pricing into...

Slate’s affordability model being adopted at GM

While I am glad this is happening, it needs to, this is likely not due to slate. Ford and GM announced new affordable electric platforms about a year ago, rivian also did prior to slate. It's market whiplash finally catching up. Apparently Ford's platform will be modular and will be a small...

Article: Ram CEO: Slate Vehicles Won't Be So Cheap Once Buyers Get Done Optioning Them Up

Im willing to bet the most popular loadout will be base battery, pickup, power windows and extra speakers, simple 1 color wrap and floormats/center console. Imo center console should be standard. Clip board type like gm/Ford truck have/had

"Goes off about American car makers needing to die and Chinese cars for the 3rd time in an unrelated thread with the exact same story while making ridiculous claims" The Chinese spend $15B a year on social media propaganda, you'd think they'd be better at it

Article: Ram CEO: Slate Vehicles Won't Be So Cheap Once Buyers Get Done Optioning Them Up

The only vehicle of recent make i can think of that did this was thr basic 2 door bronco. Now, granted, that actually sold more units than Ford could make, and Ford had to stop sales to catch up. But that as a basic configuration also served a purpose. It's likely the same for wranglers

Article: Ram CEO: Slate Vehicles Won't Be So Cheap Once Buyers Get Done Optioning Them Up

I said that, not Ram's CEO lol. Clarified it was about people who make their personality about it, which I've dealt with a bit too much in life

Article: Ram CEO: Slate Vehicles Won't Be So Cheap Once Buyers Get Done Optioning Them Up

Go join any group that glorifies that shit and tell me it's not a bunch of weirdos. It's all ive experienced in my ~20 years of car discourse. Im not saying base models are bad. My ranchero WAS as base model as they came, besides the engine. They have their place. Im just saying the people who...

Article: Ram CEO: Slate Vehicles Won't Be So Cheap Once Buyers Get Done Optioning Them Up

I mean, he's right to be honest. The vast majority of "basic" trucks that get bought are fleet trucks. This has been the case since basically forever. "Basic" Models have been shunned in the US since the 50s and the vast majority of people who buy base model cars are weird dweebs who feel some...

Slate truck size shown parked inside garage first look video (in pickup and SUV form)

95 Ranger was 184 for the regular bed, like 69 inches wide (the domestic ranger, not the goofy global market one we have now) S10 is slightly longer for similar year but same width roughly

Slate truck size shown parked inside garage first look video (in pickup and SUV form)

It's about as big as 90s trucks, which were "small" for what they were

Rage Bait AI at its finest - why Slate will fail 😡

Will be interesting to see if the Slate gets the same Treatment the maverick did where dozens of channels pop up solely to tell you not to buy the maverick.

A Perspective on Slate, from Someone Who Only Owns V8s

Chinese cars are built to flood markets with literal F tier garbage. They're awful. They're the worst cars in the world. But china knows if they keep them cheap they can flood literally every market. I get that you think you're big intelligent or something for going, "wait, murica bad, china...

A Perspective on Slate, from Someone Who Only Owns V8s

Was with you but you lost me at the defense of Chinese cars and blaming congress. Keeping Chinese cars out was one of the few smart decisions they've made in recent years

Another fun commercial: "We’re bringing back crank windows. Get ready to get strong."

Same. My old muscle car has crank windows as does my Freightliner. That said, on every one of their adds you get "why tf doesn't it have X" from the same people you'll see wanting a "basic" truck. It's actually something that worries me a touch about the Slate - how much of the online market...

Another fun commercial: "We’re bringing back crank windows. Get ready to get strong."

Can't wait for all the people who cried about how they would love a truck with absolutely no features for ~3 years to now whine that they have to crank up their windows

It looks like SLATE has pathetic EV efficiency. (and a rant).

Something else id just like to toss out there is that the compact 90s trucks the Slate emulates were not much better fuel wise. Assume slate's actual range is 250, you'd be hard pressed getting 300miles out of a 90s ranger/shityota/s10 unless it had an extended fuel tank.
