Just because it’s RWD does not mean it can’t get through snow. Put the right tires on and a bit of extra weight (why not snow?) in the bed and it should do just fine with the motor in the back. Germans have been driving RWD BMWs and Mercedes for decades through snow.
When I first got my FJ, I hauled a Masterbuilt smoker crate (about 250 pounds) home from Home Depot…just barely fit inside with the rear seats folded. That cargo floor is about the same size as the Slate bed.

There are just so many current unknowns that it is difficult to fault a company that hasn’t produced a single unit yet. Slate has a clear goal and a plan to achieve it. Let’s see what they actually do before we tell them it can’t be done.
Jeep is marketed here as “the most patriotic brand” due to its wartime heritage. I can see the go anywhere capability as being personified as “horse”. Unlike a horse, a Jeep might get you there but it might not get you home. For that you need a Toyota.
