Article: "Slate Auto’s Sophomore Album Problem: What Comes Next?" -- what do you think?

Under $25K is probably more realistic. But cars are cheaper than trucks and a Slate Coupe is going to be competing against used cars as well. If it’s possible to land at or under $20K for a Slate Coupe that would be a huge win. it would also help justify a mid-20K price Slate Truck more when...

Article: "Slate Auto’s Sophomore Album Problem: What Comes Next?" -- what do you think?

I think next is an AWD Slate option for $3K more and maybe a 4 Door Slate XL that still smaller than a Wrangler with a bigger battery and more towing capacity. But for a future new model I think the Slate Coupe makes the most sense. Like the Slate Truck the EV Coupe market is barren. I think...

Slate makes the cover of Car & Driver magazine!

Which makes sense the accessories revenue is an incentive to make sure the Truck is reliable for a long time. So they can make money on accessory sales even from 2nd or 3rd owners of the truck. But there's going to be a good amount who buy just a blank slate and you can't be losing money on each...

Slate makes the cover of Car & Driver magazine!

As Rich Rebuild said in his video on Slate it will be a mistake if Slate sells the SUV Kit at $7K or $8K. Seats and Rollbars will be sold together. You can't install the seats without the roll kit. You can buy the SUV Kit without the seats though as a 3rd option.

Slate makes the cover of Car & Driver magazine!

$25K seems all but confirmed at this point. Which is a good thing they likely don't want to make any hard promises until closer to release.

Article: Slate can still undercut Ford's $30,000 EV pickup. Here's how

Thanks this is the first piece of news I found that said anything about range. I do wonder if that's a long range battery option or base option. Since Jim Farley has been saying that Americans need to get more comfortable with smaller, lower range vehicles, for affordability.

Article: Slate can still undercut Ford's $30,000 EV pickup. Here's how

From what I can find Ford hasn't made any statements about range. All they said is that it will be $30,000 and have performance similar to an Ecoboost Mustang.

Toyota to follow Ford in $30k small truck segment

Not to mention any repairs that Slate does need is either DIY friendly or designed with easy serviceability in mind. Which lowers maintenance costs even more.

Dear Slate - you need to show these things before I'll buy

3 is pretty well known already they have raised over $700 million in their first two rounds of funding and are currently undergoing their third round of fund raising. With their excellent marketing campaign and securing big fish investors the will likely be getting a good mix of big fish and...

Article: Slate can still undercut Ford's $30,000 EV pickup. Here's how

Ford is using LFP batteries which from what I researched are cheaper but less range than the batteries Slate is using. However Slate's body design is prioritizing being wrap friendly, DIY repair friendly, and getting a 5 star crash safety rating. Not necessarily the most efficient design range...

Article: Slate can still undercut Ford's $30,000 EV pickup. Here's how

Which is why Slate is being smart by buying itself Wiggle Room by saying mid-20K that way it doesn't promise something and then needs to backtrack. But I will say anything over $25K will be a hard sell for a base blank slate on the demand side of things. Personally, I'm no expert but I think a...

Nissan Leaf MK3 Staring At $31500

    Need FM Radio

Honestly it's fine for the radio not come standard but I do feel like the option should be there in the configurator. I likely will get a 3rd party one either way if I want double din radio but for consumers that don't want to worry about installation having the option in the configurator might...

Slate's Tisha Johnson is an Honorary Judge at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

When I say trying to be a more traditional automaker I'm using Traditional in the sense of keeping the fire alive not preserving ashes. It may be a new car industry but they seem to be keeping some of the traditions of the old ones which isn't a bad thing. Will be interesting if Slate is very...

Slate's Tisha Johnson is an Honorary Judge at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

Slate's Leadership Team consists of Automotive Veterans. They have these connections and understand the importance of these events. They are trying to be a more traditional automaker not an EV Tech Startup Car Company, this is clear in their choice of Detroit for their headquarters instead of...

    Driver control for passenger window

It's honestly something I thought about as well, since it would be good when I have my dog riding in the passenger seat and he wants to get some air. Plus with no sunglass holder in the traditional area and seeming only able to get one with auto windows, at least I can have a sunglass holder on...

Does the SUV kit make sense?

I think most people who are interested in Slate are interested in it as Pickup Truck first. The SUV Kit is just a bonus that you can buy on day one or purchase later. The example Slate always gives that I think is a good one is a young professional who buys a Blank Slate as a new car. But later...
