Strange coincidence that Ford, the most obvious threat to Slate with its newly announced sub $30k truck and of course the Maverick, is partnering with Amazon, who’s founder is providing financial backing to Slate.

Total BS and a complete waste of time. Why do people fall for this nonsense? Hint- When a title has made up words, eg. explanated, you should avoid sharing.
The Tesla supercharger access is great. Just be prepared to pay about 44% higher rates. For examples, I can charge my Tesla locally for $0.34/kwh. The non Tesla rate is $.49/kwh.
Good news, you can pay the lower rate with a membership plan. Definitely worth it if you plan to charge your...
I think it’s a safe bet we will be fairly impressed by the final product. We’ve held on this far. If Slate disappoints, they are done and they know it. But the wildcard still needing to be addressed is….. pricing.
By now, we should all have a few trucks in our Slate maker / garage. I have...
Those who take early deliveries will in fact become the official beta testers for Slate. They (both Slate Auto & repair shops) will be learning alongside us as the truck enters the real world from a virtual environment. My suspicion is the Slate will be a reliable vehicle based on its design...
The way I see it, Slate's low budget marketing is consistent with the brand's fast, scrappy, and frugal mission. So, if someone on staff volunteered to share a 17 second video using his iPhone, it's kind of doing the job. It got us to talk about it. And to keep our interest level slightly...
Your suspicions are spot on. From Grok: Ironwood Motors is likely fake or non-operational. There are major red flags:
• No verifiable business details: The site lacks an about page, physical address, phone number, founder info, or team bios. It uses a generic Gmail ([email protected])...
It’s just good practice to place a red flag or cloth behind the plywood. If it helps avoid an accident it’s worth the extra step. Most lumber yards and even Home Depot will advise to use a flag when hauling overhanging lumber.
In the event overhanging plywood does cause an accident...
Hmmm. Most states require a red flag or cloth on anything sticking out more than 3’ past your vehicle's rear bumper, like plywood. Has this video been approved by Slate’s legal team?
I hope at some point Slate prices up all the trucks we "built" in our garage. I actually have 6 saved builds in the Slate maker, some I really loaded up. I think it's going to be a sobering reality check when we look at the bottom line.
Tesla has a very elaborate, if not industry leading, energy app built into its onboard computer. An engineering background is helpful in interpreting the data. But to summarize, drive in a responsible manner, avoiding high performance maneuvers, etc. and I can achieve about 240 watts consumed...
KBB on Slate’s Repair Network
According to this report, out of the 4000 listed Repair Pal shops, only 200 are trained or qualified to work on Slate trucks. Apparently an inherent risk to taking an early delivery in 2026.
Update: this just in from Slate:
Yes, the portable charger will be compatible with a 120V outlet and an outlet that you may use at home for an Electric Dryer(Level 2 charge).
Yesterday, I sent a question to Slate via Chat:
Are you including a Level 2 charger / 240V / NEMA 14-50 connector with the Slate truck?
Yes - all Slates will come with an include charger that will allow for both.

I apologize, I re-read your message. The charging cable will...
I had an aftermarket popup sunroof installed in a ‘79 Mustang by an auto repair shop. The unit would leak in the rain and water would drip in my eyes while driving.
How I miss those days…
Looks like it’s a separate cable.
LEVEL 2 – APPLIANCE OUTLET
Use the included Slate charging cable • No need to purchase extras • Adds 25 to 40 miles per hour of charge • Full charge in 4-8 hours
Remember, the mantra at Slate, per Barman, is "fast, frugal and scrappy." Slate is not exactly overflowing in cash and must avoid any legal hassles, at least until they get up and running. They even removed desks from trash bins to setup a makeshift office in the early startup days. They need...
That picture of the charger in the frunk may just be a 'rendering' of the kind of charger we will get. Slate Auto has stated you will get everything you need for both Level 1 and Level 2 charging. I will hold them to that statement. Maybe we need to reach out to Slate for clarity.
