A "Slate SUV Kit without a topper" is fundamentally different from the type of topper that's been around forever for covering a pickup truck bed. The squareback version functions more like a table leaf.
If you want to be pedantic, the Slate is a Coupe Utility Vehicle that can be turned into a...
There's a third potential option: SUV without the seats. & rollbar.
@sodamo explained some reasons (dog-hauling and security) that option make sense in a previous post.
If my bike is in my truck bed I can't leave the vehicle unattended.
I also transport another person and multiple dogs in my...
There's definitely unmet demand for a functional minimalist small pickup with high efficiency and low maintenance.
Apparently Slate Auto is also all-in on the idea of creating a truck that can be a means of self-expression, not just a means of transportation.
Different strokes for different...
Slate Auto deserves some credit for not putting badges on the body panels, assuming the configurator / maker is showing that accurately. Methinks that may be because it makes installing a wrap easier.
Whatever the reason, it's appreciated.
I've even removed badges from a brand new car before...
A Slate-specific Bike Holder for the tailgate that's stowable in the frunk would be a useful accessory for Slate to offer.

Keeping a matte plastic finish looking factory-fresh for years could be a challenge.
Can clear protective film be successfully applied to a matte surface? (Not saying I...
Upgraded bumpers and/or wheels and/or tires should be installed during initial assembly.
Imagine the moaning and squawking Slate Auto would need to endure if customers are required to buy two sets of ( wheels | tires | bumpers ) to get the ones they want.
I'd take that bet, depending upon what the extended battery option costs.
Seems like a popular combo will turn out to be a Base Blank Slate plus Extended Battery and not much else. Rubber floor mats, maybe.
The Reservations Tracking List provides hints.
Maybe I'm just projecting my own...
Replacing the wimpy "Meep-Meep" horn should turn out to be a pretty easy DIY project.
I put a FIAMM Low Note Horn ("Freeway Blaster", maybe?) on my motorcycle and boy did it make a difference!
Hella makes a universal pair (high tone + low tone) of disc horns that probably would be a...
