I think itās the MANDATED part thatās most scary. What will be mandated in bits and pieces, like backup camera until the whole system has been added? Seems each little piece falls under the safety umbrella to minimize push back.
My last Tacoma (2009) was just 2wd. Got stuck a couple times, vowed only to get 4wd in future. Never got stuck again. Probably nothing to due with not driving in areas I might get stuck. Iāll not drive my rwd Slate in those places either š
Seems to me there might be 2 categories of parts. 1. Those exchanged right after manufacture, Tires, wheels, bumpers etc) that Slate can reinstall as new because they still are and 2. The DIY parts, which may or may not be unused.
Self driving. Yes. And I can see that as a real boon to the elderly or disabled. Donāt take my keys away, the car knows how to get there - safely.
as for ownership, I think that urban vs rural will be a factor
Solar carport š A couple years ago I decided to expand my PV system and reasoned that a carport type extension on my tractorshed using 4kw of PV for the roof would be ideal. Almost, I did end up closing it in and add doors due to to rain.

Not ruled that out yet. Doubtful Iād drive from Warsaw to Ca. No doubt 3rd party shipping from IN will be possible as Iām sure it already exists.
Likely cheaper to just use a shipping service. I do have relatives/friends, DC area, LA area, Phoenix area so local pickup could be an expensive...
Back in late/mid 70ās bought a new VW van, dealer put on paper plates. i drove it to Ca before plates expired and shipped to Hawaii. Once here I registered as a used, preregistered care, avoiding the sales tax. I think they closed that loop hole.
