For my use-case... I will be putting maybe 100 miles a month of the truck with the longest single trip being 30 miles round trip towing 600#. (Except for once per year I have to do 80 miles without the trailer.) At that rate, I'm pretty sure level one will be fine. I always know at least a...
What about bluetooth speakers in the doors? That way you don't need to add any wires. (power is already going into the door to control the locks.)
Can you tell I'm not too interested in speakers? A bluetooth speaker hanging from the dash and connected to my phone is all I need.
Especially since the story I heard about this one is that there is only a single source for the manual window mechanism, almost nobody makes them anymore.
It's also my understanding that they wanted to go with drum breaks but they couldn't find a source at all for them.
I think you guys are forgetting something. A pickup truck has not just a window, but an entire wall behind the seats that adds structural support to the vehicle. Sure, maybe they move the entire back wall to the back on the SUV, (but then what do you do with the tail gate?) but removing that...
Hmm... Slate has repeatedly and specifically said that all the vehicles will come off the assembly line in only two configurations, regular and large battery. That's it. So I doubt it will be the former idea.
I also doubt they will have a build sheet and have each car come out with different...
Pickup toppers have been a thing since forever. I don't think calling such a thing "an SUV without the seats & rollbar" is useful and I also don't think it's possible. The whole reason for the roll cage is because removing the back wall of the cab reduces the structural stability of the vehicle...
I think this will be an issue. My guess is that they will have some sort of rebate program if you want to replace some options. The vehicle will still come out of the factory with the base equipment, but they will have another "division" or part of the building that replaces wheels/tires and...
I expect just the wrap (see my profile picture) and a hitch. I'll maybe add on a few things after I've owned it a little while.
Honestly, my biggest concern is that the phone cradle seems to have a usb-c port on it, and I have an older iPhone with a lightning port. This means I might want to...
Given the manual AC knobs with no specific temperature setting, I would expect any "precondition" button on the fob would just turn on the HVAC to whatever manual setting you had it at when you left the vehicle.
FYI, the Ford Maverick may start at "just over $28k" but there is a $1.7k destination charge and a $700 acquisition fee according to their builder. So that's $30.5k and then you have to add the $1-2k dealer fee...
Chris said in the ad that the Slate will start in the "mid 20s". So likely $5-8k...
Hmm... Not to say you are wrong, but 2.8 mi/kWh puts the Slate right in the middle of the pack according to this chart. And the Bolt EUV is rated at 3.4. So if your real world numbers were 4.2 and the Slate behaves similarly, then it's "real world" number for you would be 3.5. Still not at the...
It was my understanding that in order to put in the back row of seats, one must remove the wall between the front seats and the bed. If that is done, then the roll cage is needed for stiffness. The SUV and fastback covers are just relatively flimsy panels.
Reports are that the back window of...
Well, I will keep the upgraded Maverick and Compass in mind when the time comes for me to buy, but there is nothing indicating that they will be less expensive than the Slate, especially once you figure in the about $3k delivery and dealer fee. If they are all in the mid twenties, I would likely...
I was looking at the Jeep Compass Sport this morning. Apparently the $26k doesn't include the tow package and the tow package is not available at that trim. To get the tow package, one must get the Trailhawk trim? That's $35k (including the tow package). In either case, I have to add the around...
I'm looking for a vehicle that is:
New
Can tow without voiding the warranty (I only need to tow 600#).
Has 200+HP
The raw fact is that the Maverick doesn't satisfy those requirements. Neither does the Santa Cruz. What is the least expensive vehicle that does?
I'll chime in with my guess about those switches. Many accessories will require power. I saw in a video one of the prototypes had a connector in the slot where the double-din stereo would go.
So my guess is that those "accessory switches" are for turning the power on/off to the various fuses...
