I'm waiting for an influencer headline "Slate Truck Cures Cancer".
Although at least her headline didn't read "Vehicle XYZ: Everything We Know". I have a personal rule anytime I see a story headline like that. I know that what they know is exactly nothing.
ROTFL. I'm reading all the adoring headlines about how we finally have an affordable BEV offroader. At $60,000. Meanwhile the Rivian R2 is inbound at $45,000. And Rivian says they're actually going to build to that price point at launch.
I'm probably underestimating how dumb the car buying...
Now that you mention it, the Slate is awfully similar to my two (2000, 2010) old Ford Rangers. They were strippers. Anemic four cylinder engines, two doors, manual shift, single cab. Horrible road manners, especially axle hop because of the crude rear suspension. Crude radio. Crude interior...
Get used to it. In 2025, half of all onliine content is AI generated. Teachers now assume students use AI for papers and the like. A significant number of articles signed by "journalists" are generated by AI, and then proofread by the "journalist".
One projection has 99% of online content being...
There's a really basic question that none of us have the data to answer. Some of us are pessimists. Some are optimists. Some of us waffle back and forth.
The question, very simply, is "What is the market space for the Slate vehicle?".
I'm not going to offer up an answer, because I don't have...
I was most interested in the fact that Horse was all about freeing OEMs from having to build generic powerplants. In an era where ICE is slowly dying, and in which generic 2 liter engines are everywhere, it just makes sense for OEMs to free up capital by just buying that engine from a supplier...
Well, the Horse solutions can be used for EREV too. They're just units that deliver power from gasoline. They can be used for ICE, hybrid, EREV - the platform is agnostic.
It's not for me. As an engineer, I' a pure BEV guy. But I respect that others have different needs and like other solutions.
For those who are interested, the North American leader of Horse powertrains just appeared on Autoline After Hours. Find them on YouTube. It was an interesting talk about how they could add an ICE capability to any vehicle. If that's your thing...
Tall hoods are partly marketing, partly meeting European pedestrian standards (yes, a tall hood helps when hitting a person), partly to fit a range of engines (remember the new Hilux has an ICE variant).
As for crash standards, that's just engineering. Watch Sandy Munro's channel and learn. The...
They've announced they're looking for a new supplier. The ironic thing is that all that battery capacity is being sucked up for utility scale batteries. One person's loss is another person's gain.
R2T please. The "please" is directed at RJ Scaringe, who has hinted they'll offer it after R2S is launched. Even better - an R3T to go with the R3X, but I think that's me being greedy.
Plenty of Rivians in my area of WNC. Because we have lots of wealthy retirees from the coasts. Teslas in...
Speaking of hypothetical vehicles, the Telo build feature is now active on their website. I justr built my Telo, red, amber interior, AWD, long range battery, 500 HP. A cool $50,000 that I cannot afford. But, if they're able to reach market, I bet Telos will be the "I'm different" signature...
Most pickups will take some cross 2x4s in the bed so you can lay it flat. Yea, it'll stick out. But that's what tiedowns are for. My Maverick can can do better with a shorter bed. Movable cargo management system. And the tailgate comes down halfway to further support the load.
This video is...
The back and forth on what a truck should do - what it's capable of - is debated endlessly in the Maverick forum. It's a never ending back and forth between those who need to tow, those who don't. Those who need payload and those who don't. Those who, if they're being honest, don't need a truck...
The correct statement would be that, as of 2025, BEVs are easier to build but more expensive to build.
The hope is that, with the passage of time, BEVs will be both easier and less expensive to build. But cost is based on scale, so it's a chicken and egg problem. You need BEV scale for costs to...
>> Truck. Maverick isn’t a truck.
It's funny to see the wars over on the Maverick Truck Club on whether or not the Maverick is a truck, whether it is truly small, etc. I decline to participate. My Maverick is a cheap reliable runabout that I neither love nor hate. It's an appliance. I've put...
I could see them moving to LFP because I'm wagering right now Slate is fighting a really tough battle to deliver a vehicle at a cost that appeals. They need to get much closer to $20K than $30K if they're goiing to have any chance of stealing large numbers of buyers away from Ford.
Keep in mind...
OP, I found it really interesting to scroll through the spreadsheet and see all the vehicles people currently drive. I may have to data mine that and post a message showing a count by vehicle. I see recurring vehicles, like Mustang, Rivian, Maverick. It's a data treasure trove
I saw a statistic from GM last week that blew my mind. SuperCruise has driven 700 million miles without an accident. As a Boomer with fading vision and reaction time, that works for me.

Yea, I get it. This is on mapped...
