Suspension Poll: Lifted, Lowered, or Standard Height?

I just changed out my EV's stock OEM Michelin 225-55x19 tires after 33K miles with 255-55x19 RFT tires on a new set of wider rims. Added 1" tire height in addition to the 1.5" Eibach coil spring lift kit = 2.5" lift all around. Getting in is easier and the ride has dramatically improved -...

Update: Ford's EV 'Model T moment' Announced

Same here - I am hoping Ford makes a Ranger EV truck. For $30K, I;d buy it in a heartbeat!

    New battery technology

This is true - EV trucks are outrageously priced. I had a '22 Ford Lightning Lariat purchased for $67K and that was the base EV truck (no weight scales, no extended battery, no BlueCruise (auto drive), no trailering aids, etc... Traded her in a year later after finding out Ford didn't even...

Is FORD Preparing to Release a SLATE Competitor?

Hawaii is a totally different market. Most of the mainland Lightning inventory is languishing.

    New battery technology

Unlikely for the first iteration of the Slate - NMC is the standard these days with all EV manufcturers. Maybe the next version might have the highly touted Japanese solid state or sodium batteries ? I was just looking at the new iPhone 17 Air that I am getting this fall. It uses a different...

Is FORD Preparing to Release a SLATE Competitor?

That makes sense! Since the Lightning is not much in demand due to higher pricing, it makes sense to develop a mid size / compact truck. I'd' go for one in a heartbeat if Slate falls thru as I did have a '22 Lightning (first batch off the line) for a year and found it unusable in Los Angeles....

Is FORD Preparing to Release a SLATE Competitor?

You have to register at Ford to get a live view on Aug 11. https://www.fromtheroad.ford.com/us/en/register-ford-next-model-t-moment I'll be watching as I have a Ford Mach E. It's supposed to air from Kentucky and talk about the new Ford design studios like the new one in Long Beach, CA...

Fast-Charging at home for Slate EV possibly by eliminating onboard charger-inverter (using Exro's Coil Driver inverter technology_

In California, they would want you to pay full sales tax on the vehicle plus registration, title and fees. And the tariffs will kill you too.... So in other words, states like CA is not a good idea to register a foreign purchased car.

    SK On Battery Tech

No wonder EVs have a much longer warranty than the basic bumper to bumper! PHEV: 10 years / 150,000 miles (Honda Clarity) BEV: 8 years / 100,000 miles (Ford)

    SK On Battery Tech

SK On is a south Korean battery manufacturer that is looked as a positive source by the USA as an ally nation used by Ford Lightning EV trucks. My Mach E NMC are sourced from Poland but the battery manufacturing is switching to Michigan....

When will I get my Slate?

Same experience with reservations actually turning into an order with Ford, GM and Chevy EVs.... Ford Lightning 2022 unexpectedly converted into an order the fastest (1 year reservation). Ford Mach E 2022 order turned into 2 VIN changes, model year change, color changes, then stalled for 14...

Ford China is coming out with EV & EREV Broncos !

This is nice to see that Ford China is coming out with an EV and EREV. EV flavor is AWD with BYD batteries with a range of 400 miles. I would love to see the EREV flavor with a 700 mile range EREV in the US. https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/ford-bronco-goes-ev-and-erev-in-china.47641/

Chargeway - the app you'll need

With NACS charge port standard on the Slate, I'd bet that Tesla Supercharger access would be plug and charge. My Ford has CCS1 and needs an adapter to use the Tesla Superchargers. Just unfortunate that having to open the Tesla app in order to get the discounted Tesla driver rate is a...

Chargeway - the app you'll need

It's plug and charge for my Ford EVs. Been charging at Tesla Superchargers for over a year. It's a true plug and charge using the non discounted / full rates thru Ford's Blue Oval network such as Tesla and Electrify America. However, my charging discounts (Tesla Driver and EV Go Plus) are...

Place Your Bets! (actual blank Slate starting price contest)

Those numbers are what I predict will be when it finally becomes available. My past reservations (Ford and GM) have all increased by the time it was ready for ordering. Ford Lightning was not too far off - about $1500 more than originally quoted (Lariat) The biggest jump was the Chevy...

Article: Slate trucks will cost less than an average used car, even without tax credits

yes, always has in the past. Ocean, Lucid, Rivian and F150 Lightning were all limited production and people did reserve to buy the first model year to flip them. By sheer luck, I got the first year '22 Lightning 16 months earlier than the Mach E that I also ordered. Ended up driving the...

So many posts about, will you still buy without EV credit [WARNING: NO POLITICS]

Agree - I had the Lightning for 1 year and it was way too large for my urban lifestyle. Lightning would not fit in my single garage, found tight parking spaces, terrible U turn radius, constant worry while in middle of Los Angeles bumper to bumper traffic, and I never towed nor hauled...
