I keep imagining a footholds (like on fake climbing walls) mounted to the side of the rear panels. The SUV kits having a sliding half hatch and panic grip to enable independent rear entry and exit.
I have a question about the tonneau cover
I think they should have gone with full white rims and only bronze colored lug nut caps instead of that mini hubcap.
The seat should only have 3-5 controls. A seat release that allows access to rear cab, position lever under the seat, a seat back tilt lever, seat height/angle lever, and possibly a lumbar knob. these last two are probably unnecessary, given the minimalist design of the Slate.
There is another thread with a link to a California wrap shop that has a browser-based designer with the Slate Truck as an existing template. Unfortunately, you have to register an account to save anything, and I found the designer interface to not be user friendly.
Has anyone asked, or seen if the phone dock can handle thick phone cases. I have had a rather interesting experience of phone docks not working out because of the phone protective cover/case.
Were you able to get a look at the cradle to see how the phone is held, and any potential issues with...
I wonder why they do not wrap those lower dark grey panels.
Are they anticipating that much wear and tear in those locations, so wrapping or plasti-dipping will never look good with road damage.
Regarding Slate base color choice.
I have gone through a number of websites and YouTube videos that discussed wrapping. It appeared that the consensus was for dark colors beneath the wrap.
Bright and shiny colors such as whites and yellows, have a greater tendency to show through at seam...
Thanks for the clarification.
I see it now. The rails are bolted to the plywood (painted to match the bed color) And then those upper plywood color bolts are likely located at the bed liner bolt hole locations for this particular show prototype.
Still a good looking setup.
Thanks for the Pics.
I liked how they did the outward appearance of this truck.
Did they just drill and bolt the wood rails to the bed plastic? I thought they would have been mounted to them using the side panel sockets their high bed racks appear to use for mounting.
Were you able to get...
The plain Blank Slate Truck, choice of SUV kit flat packed, power window, blue tooth speaker, and a wrap kit. Let the reviewer test out everything from the smoothness of the modularly customization process to the simplicity of the interior.
We make light of such things, but then I read an article about Ford appearing to put an add-on cost for the "Frunk" space on the Mach E.
Apparently, Ford has research suggesting Mach E vehicle owners are not using the frunk, so now they are replacing the bin with more internal plastic covers...
Very expensive upgrade package. That will be an extra $1000 per month for infinite gearing and every drives ends with a simulated exploding engine block with $5000 engine rebuild fee. The F&F package also taps into interior camera footage edited with Ford AI to generate tik-tok clips of you...
I was just reading up on Ford patenting a "Shifter Stick" for their new EV lineup. The stick will be tied to vehicle software to activate different drive modes and provide drivers with a simulated MT performance experience.
With Ford also engaging in subscription-based feature activation, I...
Virginia requires the manufacturer to possess a Dealer License if they want to engage in direct sales. Tesla has an exception, but I think that has closed, and they are grandfathered. Otherwise strong protections for franchise dealers.
Slate may want to get a dealer license, and work through...
Couple of questions to pose at these events.
Basic Maintenance:
With the Frunk cladding. How to convenient are basic items like headlight bulb replacement? For reference, my 2012 GMC sierra light bulb replacement is a pain in the rear to change out this basic component unless you have tiny...
I will not disagree that the Slate is well setup for utility fleet operators,
However, I can definitely see the Slate having additional markets.
I see it getting in new/used market segment for new drivers. Particularly, if Slate can hit their Safety and Pricing targets.
The Slate's lower...
At this point, I think this topic has been beaten to a dead radio.
For fleet operators, the owners could care less.
For some, a blue tooth speaker is all you need.
For folks who need the airwaves , a universal antenna with a basic head unit works.
For audiophiles, their going custom anyway and...
