Totally agree. I'm very excited to do mods and upgrades-That's the fun part! There are very few car people who look forward to the routine maintenance. Almost nobody wakes up excited to change the oil in an ICE.
Anytime a new product is launched there's a long learning curve of refining production. The first batch of any new product is usually R&D samples. (Usually tax-deductible in US.)
You fine tune your designs to optimize producibity and efficiency, while ensuring quality meets tolerable standards...
I would like to add my vote to help tip the scales.
The absence of tattle-tale data is one of the largest factors for why I want a Slate. Take that away, and engage in the same subscription crap that other automakers are doing, and my love affair is over.
I want to be able to love, work on...
If I'm totally honest, the release and the delivery of my new Slate is giving me something to really look forward to, like the thought of going on a vacation, or a long-promised reward. In my mind, it's kind of a feature, not a glitch.
I'm also really looking forward to getting more tangible...
You're exactly right, here. There's a good deal of psychology in much of Slate's approach, and TBH I'm not put off by it. It's not terribly manipulative, just guidance to get this product to market, as favorably as possible.
I think this is the beauty of the BLANK Slate. They're just gonna make them all the same. They can be reassigned and distributed at the most advantageous time/method.
I see your point, but I don't have property where I can set up a solar panel. I only have access to the parking space I temporarily occupy. THAT'S why I would carry around the solar rig.
Also, for camping, and other off-grid situations.
If I could get a polished solution like this, I'd probably HAVE to get one. I want a hard-sided tonneau cover, anyway, so it's a big win to have that serve a dual purpose for harvesting power.
Well, dang. That's not the math I want to hear, but perhaps you're exactly right. I would love to harvest my own power, using equipment I own, but I may have to face facts that it doesn't make sense for me.
Thank you for your honest feedback.
I totally agree, and I would prefer a stationary setup, but I don't own my own my home, and therefore can't establish a semi-permanent setup.
My hope is that I can accumulate enough, passively parked in full sun everyday, that it substantially reduces my need to use Level 3 charging, which...
I haven't seen this specific setup covered in this forum. Apologies if I've missed it.
I'm very seriously considering installing a collapsible solar panel array (500-600 watts) on the roof of the Slate, and collecting the power in a stand-alone battery generator, with the intent of dumping the...
If (b) were true, we wouldn't be constantly tracked, online and in person. Other car companies wouldn't be collecting terabytes of data on their drivers, because no one would be buying that data. That's plainly obvious, thus, (1) also must not be true.
Part of the appeal for me to get a Slate is the absence of surveillance tech. If I find out I'm being tracked unnecessarily by this company, I'm 100% out. I'll keep driving my 2016 ice car, whose 3G communication package is dead.
I'm not interested in being monitored any more than I already am...
It appears they are trying to: replace the glovebox owner's manual with a trouble code driven, diagnostic chatbot. While that's a change for some, it seems to take good advantage of the world we now occupy.
I'm optimistic this is a good sign for the effective implementation of Slate U, or at...
