Yep. Keep in mind, people die each year working on their suspensions because they don't know how to use a jack, stands, wheel chocks, etc.
And don't get me started on brakes. The dealers say: "You'll die if we don't do the work. Brakes are for professionals!" Slate is very refreshing in...
I'm not going to compare to a Ford UEV because I don't know much about it.
You are asking exactly what I will fix, and I can't answer that (hopefully) years away from it.
What interests me are the following promises:
A company that is open to customers working on their vehicle
Them helping...
Incentives did their job. Got the industry going and the consumers interested. I was an early skeptic, and now I'm looking because the infrastructure and breadth of offerings is now mature enough.
I appreciate everyone's perspectives and stories. You've convinced me I'll be fine.
The funny thing is I remember in the early 80s the news people frequently had stories about driving FWD since RWD was going away quickly. People were freaked out by FWD.
My memory of FWD was from the early...
From one old goat to OldGoat: I completely agree. This is where I am at. My Honda's A/C is so marginal this year, but I'm letting it ride, not even refilling it. (Spare me, I know I may toast the compressor.) There's my $300.
I'm also going to bet that when they roll out the promised test...
Yeah, the motor likely has over 100 parts alone. When I was watching the Munro video of them walking under the vehicle, the only solution I had to "parts" was SKUs.
I was thinking about this as I cut the grass yesterday. What is a part? A SKU? I mean, there's gotta be hundreds of fasteners alone. Each one of those isn't a part, I assume. But if they made an effort to attach the panels with just 3 types of fasteners, that would be 3 parts? I'm...
Well they do call it a "Cargo Kit" which implies you order it like other accessories. But there's nothing in maker, and they also say "perfect for fleets." So they are talking out of both sides, and this frustrates me because I'm very interested in it.
These algorithms are scary. In my various posts on forums and elsewhere previous to 2022 or so, I expressed concern about things like range anxiety, high cost, complexity, lack of turn signal stalks (Tesla) and so on. Somewhere on my Tubes Profile, I must have been listed as an EV hater. I...
LOL! That's exactly what I'm talking about. But the message I'm hearing is the EV balance is different. And of course, ahem, lack of horses under the hood bed. This should not be a problem.
Your story reminded me of the old song "Hot Rod Lincoln" with the lyric "My fenders was clickin' the...
Ah yes. I volunteer at a nonprofit and they have an old 99 Ranger. We don't go much over 20mph on the property. It is all gravel roads, and the brakes are probably not balanced well. I've experienced a bit of that feeling during braking on a curve. But I attribute it to it being a P.O.S...
Thanks.
Snow is rare where I live, and we usually just hunker down, although the few times I did drive in it with my Subaru were awesome.
I'm mostly concerned with typical rainy weather. Your suggestion about practicing somewhere is good and I've done that quite a bit, especially with the...
I'm no racer or drifter. I don't enjoy oversteer. Although I learned to drive on RWD big iron, most of my life since 1985 has been on front wheel drive or Subaru's AWD system. I know how to deal with the feeling of being on the edge of understeer. Conversely, I've witnessed a few incidents...
Welcome XanderToss. For me, ignorance is bliss. Never had adaptive cruise so I don't know what I'm missing. But that's me. Your point is taken as I've seen others on this forum say the same.
I don't think they will stay private very long (few years after first sale) if it looks like they can somewhat make a go of it. The investors will want a pay off. And I'd rather it be an IPO than a purchase.
But who knows? Markets are fickle. I'm not sure what the long term prospects are...
