Door speakers are the way to go. Maybe tweeters in the top of the dash in the corners. No central speaker is needed nor wanted. Hopefully room for a small sub under the passenger seat.
1400 pounds of payload is nothing to sneeze at. Sure it won’t tow much more than a trailer full of lawn mowers, but the work potential is there. I think you are spot on regarding their marketing focus…creating that extra demand in the lifestyle segment. We’ll see…
I really like the jump seat accessory idea. Seat can be hinged to provide storage below. Slate should also consider cup holders to be clipped to the lower dashboard rail.
It’s a company run by a woman selling a vehicle much smaller than the pickups a lot of guys buy. I can guarantee you that they have done their focus groups and other marketing research and know exactly who their target is. I don’t think “serious work vehicle” is the feedback they are getting...
The cab rear wall doesn’t get removed. It’s a fascia body panel with hinged glass and third brake light that gets removed/relocated to make the SUV and Cargo. That fascia body panel is bolted to the cab rear wall.

SUV Kit: rear seats, roll bar (with airbags), topper with glass side panels.
Cargo Kit: topper with glass or solid side panels. One can wrap over glass side panels.
Open Air: rear seats, roll...

My girlfriend collects two things: Starbucks location mugs and matchbooks. No charm collection. I only collect tools and don’t have much interest in collecting slatelets.
A folding soft top (with removable soft side panels) would be a great option for the Slate Open Air. I’m sure some enterprising 3rd party is thinking about offering this and can’t wait to scan a production Slate with the roll bar installed.
I just bought a very expensive 13” iPad Pro. No way am I leaving it in the vehicle. Just the phone for me with the best Bluetooth powered speaker solution I can find.
