What brand of charger does the Costco have? You can down load the app and see in real time if it is occupied, functioning or not functioning. Granted all of that could change at any time
I don't like getting rained on either  Been there done that.
Just sayin if Slate doesn't take that into account some folks are gonna be disappointed
Wrangler is fine after a good soaking. Just let it dry and no harm. Hopefully Slate sates interior fabrics and carpets into account for that option. Otherwise, mold and mildew will be the death of it
I purchased my 2021 Mach E without ever sitting in one. Never even owned an EV before. My test drive was while they were preparing the paperwork. I drove from TN to Iowa to trade a Jeep on it.
Learned how to DCFC on the drive home.
You need to keep in mind the EPA estimates are a combined city and high way driving. Most fleet drivers/pats runners/whatever would be city driving. City driving will net higher ranges than ICE vehicles because there's no idling. Add in regenerative braking and 150 miles would be just fine...
For those that can't/won't Google.......
It essentially makes it drive like a golf cart. Press large pedal to go and when you release it, it slows to a stop. No need to actually press on the brake pedal. Can take time to get used to for some people. I love it and use it exclusively.....to the...
E90400K and FL4XE explain very well that the best case for EV ownership is if you can charge at home regularly and only use public DCFC for road trips.
Both very good examples but you should look at your local electricity rates. If you have cheaper rates, say from 9pm-7am, you could save even more.
I don't think Slate is looking/marketing towards the road trip crowd here. 150 mile range fully charged is not a road trip vehicle. 240 miles fully charged, yes. However, I take comfort into account for a car to travel in and Slate does not even get on my radar for that. Very few of the creature...
My father in law decided he "wanted" an EV last year. I say wanted because they had a perfectly fine vehicle and only drive about 6000 miles per year. He's 82, and fairly tech save, MIL...not so much. So, I tried to talk them out of it because of the tech involved, phone app as key, charging...
Somewhere along the way folks decided that a truck was also their family car and needed that back seat. Used to be a truck was a work vehicle and could be had for cheap. Not any more........
Does it tho? Apples to Oranges, IMHO
Some folks won't buy an EV no matter the cost, some folks won't buy an ICE for the same.
I guess if it makes sense to you, go for it.
Maybe I'm in the minority here but I do not get the comparison other than perhaps cost.
Comparing a Maverick Hybrid to BEV, to me, doesn't make sense.
BEV will have much less maintenance over its' lifetime. The hybrid has 2 drive systems to monitor and you still have things like oil changes...
If you have no way to change at home then perhaps a BEV is not the best choice for you.
Unfortunately that's just the facts at this time in history. When/if apartments and condos start adding Level 2 charge stations it will be better. Until then..........I personally would not like to rely on...
Folks getting hung up on the 150 mile range are experiencing range anxiety. Which is typical for someone going from an ICE vehicle to a BEV. You get hung up on needing to find a "gas station" when in reality you treat this vehicle just like you treat your cell phone. You plug it in every night...
