Not sure if everyone is aware, but if you change the color of your vehicle, either by paint or wrap, most states require that you report it to the DMV and have the registration and/or Vehicle Title updated. Just something to keep in mind.
Remember this guy? Letās bring him back!
āHi, Iām Earl Scheib, and Iāll paint any car, any color for $29.95. No ups, no extras.ā
Now thinking paint is a better option than a wrap. You can easily fix a scratch on a painted car; with a wrap, not as much.
By definition, the risk formula for Slate is simple: early reservation holders = early adopters = inherent risk. Any time you take delivery of a completely new product with no real-world experience you become an extension of the company's beta testing program. Is this any different from the...
Word of advice: always involve your Significant Other āSOā with any large purchase. Sometimes it takes weeks or months to strategize the acquisition. It inevitably leads to arguments, but you just have to play the game.
Usually it goes like thisā¦.
Me-āIād really like to get that (insert...
If I was an investor, Iād be more interested in a company with a large backlog of orders. The current 150k reservations represents only one year of full rate production. I donāt believe Slate is purposely downplaying the reservation count. At some point Slate will be seeking series c financing...
I want to add accessories that make it look like something this, when Iām all done. Full roof rack, rear tire carrier with Slate logo, roof access ladder, lift kit, all terrain tires, aggressive wheels, fender flares, rounded tail lamps, black wrap, and tinted glass all around. And no tailpipe...
So⦠what is the purpose of the key slot on the front doors and tailgate⦠just a decoration? Or an emergency override when your electronic locks fail?
If Slate could strike a deal with Carmax, it would be a huge āwin-winā for all parties. Carmax is currently experiencing financial difficulties; a new deal to handle logistics for Slate could represent an infusion of cash it desperately needs. It would actually complement their used car sales...
One of my favorite dealer-based service add-ons is "shop supplies" BS: small consumables, i.e. shop towels, grease, disposable gloves, cleaning supplies, etc. Looks like the OP received the World Class multipoint inspection at no cost. Sadly, that doesn't include the $22 world class oil...
Well stated. I wanted to respond to a few of your excerpts. I fully agree with your 2nd point.
Slate knows:
A) itās a light duty truck
B) it wonāt appeal to construction crews
C) it canāt handle heavy payloads,
D) itās not designed for off-road users,
E) itās not meant for those needing...
Agreed! Itās serious if itās important to you. I recall the original email said, ask us anything, āfire away.ā We all have different expectations and use cases for the truck. Apparently, whatās important to us may not share equal weight with Slate.
Ok, maybe they're trying but I submitted a serious question. No response via the AMA or email. Iāve completely lost interest by now. If something comes through, Iām certain it will be the same scripted version everyone else receives. Iāve learned to lower my expectationsā¦
Let me get this straight. It appears we have two factors to consider for delivery: date of reservation and regional rollouts, yet to be announced. If I pass on my reservation when it's time for order conversion, do I need to wait until the next regional allocation takes place? Could be a...
I also found the Q&A session silly, childish, insulting and even condescending to prospective buyers with reservations.
Eg. Q. āwill a bench seat be available?ā A. Yes, in the back row of the 5 passenger version
Q. āWhat about emergency power for a job site?ā A. Check your frunk.
Either...
My feelings exactly. They donāt need a premium spot on the exhibit floor. Just park a Slate somewhere in the back aisles behind some velvet ropes, keep it locked and have a rep on site to answer questions. The exhibit hall will still likely charge a lot of money that Slate doesnāt have. But...

Indeed, times have changed. More cars, more traffic, more hp, faster cars, and more aggressive drivers out there. Iām not expecting BSW technology from Slate any time soon.
