.. this is the way.
Airport parking should also feature this.. level-1 outlets, or just free level-1 charge cables. No need to level 2 or higher if your car is parked for a few days!
I really wonder if they'll even go to market with the smaller battery. The LEAF, BOLT, Hyundai/KIAs and the upcoming FORD ev will all probably be in the 250-300 mile range. Hard to compete if you're an a similar price point with 1/2 the range and minimal features.
Seems to me SLATE would be...
If we do wind up with a Slate (looking doubtful as competition heats up), we plan on getting the lowering kit day-1 to assist with climbing in / out.
Hand holds, grab straps, running boards, etc. should all be made available.
The list of RepairPal shops near me isn't inspiring. I'd have preferred that Slate had partnered with a single corporate entity with established procedures, training, support for service and post-service (repair warranty) support. Some of the local RepairPal outlets appear to be low ball tire...
I think metal mounting post pre drilled for double, din radio chassis is a no brainer. Strategicly bolted behind one of the dash removable panels and an option for a precut panel (or cut your own) makes sense. 2 12v taps ( on on all the time, the other switched with the aux/on mode) a good place...
I use car scanner app with apple iPhone.Talks to a Bluetooth obd2 dongle
and has gauges, charts etc on the phone. Also works with CarPlay but text only on the CarPlay screen. Free version seems to do everything I want. Use it on our hybrid maverick…
Why not just go with a standard double din stereo? Some have large screens and can be had with wireless CarPlay, xm radio, etc. if we do get a Slate that’s our plan; go to Crutchfield and find a decent stereo with CarPlay and hopefully a real volume knob.
Slate has said in some vids that...
We plan on getting the lowering kit should be buy a Slate ( less likely now if over $25k) which should improve efficiency a little bit. I do wish it was more efficient though. I think all EVs should have a miles/kwh rating with 4+ being considered good. I think the slate will be closer to 2.7...
We have a 25 Mav lariat hybrid AWD with 4K tow. Purchased in April. Recall was silly and was handled by a tech who came to the house and clipped 2 pieces of plastic onto a dash piece. Mine was in no danger of falling out but Ford wanted to make sure I guess. No fuss and took about 5 minutes...
FWIW in April this year we purchased a 25 maverick lariat hybrid with AWD and 4k towing. Ordered it back in November and paid 3% below invoice. Dealer was no hassle, In and out in about 2 hours total.
the truck has been great so far. We’re seeing low to mid 40s mpg around town, and the truck...
I plan on a double-din stereo with wireless carplay hardwired to a pair of speakers (door speakers? Maybe with extra left/right small dash tweeters). Many low-cost stereos, some with real volume controls.
My guess is they realize the extended range version would outsell the battery- only and are concentrating on where the sales are.
if the reev was half the size I’d be interested.
Looks very competitive, though it doesn’t get a heat pump or battery heaters in the lower trim levels. Does get wirelesmcarplay/aa, safety features and 360 cameras though. The Leaf, Bolt and Hyundai/kia EVs will all compete in the low cost ev segment along with the Slate.
There's no room near the rear axle for a spare under the bed due to the somewhat unique suspension design.
Here's another variant if the spare sits low enough in the bed so the top is below sides. The hump is now a box with a ledge. The ledge would match the height of the flats on top of the...
No idea of the space available but it would be cool if the top of the zipn hump matched the top of the wheel wells (and would make a nice ledge for 4' x 8' sheets that lay in the bed (similar to the Maverick layout where the sheets lay on the top of the wheel wells + the gate is designed to drop...
Thanks. If they don't offer it, and no one else does, I'll probably try to rig something up should I actually wind up with a Slate.
I will be cross shopping the Ford EV as well as the Bolt EV and New entry level Kia/Hyundai or a gently used Kia/Hyundai with the majority of the factory warranty...
I think I want to stuff a spare tire in there, sitting vertically, with the different cover that includes hump .This would let you keep the jack and tire tools under there too.
I'm not a fan of hanging the spare behind the tailgate. Asking for major repair after a small rear ender. as well...
